If someone can either place this page under Beta > MiningMetallurgy > SmeltingCombinations, or tell me how to do it myself, it would be much appreciated; I forgot to include the path when I created it, and I cannot find a way to change it now.
I'm including this page to catalogue all my mining results in a public forum. Feel free to post edits to include notes or comments on my research, just don't alter any of the existing numbers (even/especially if they disagree with your own). Make sure you include your character name and date with your posts.
If someone can show me a confirmable case of two different results from a spotted and mottled crystal with the same shape (cylindrical or oblong), I'd appreciate it. I cannot see a significant difference in the two patterns, and in light of the fact that our compiled results thus far don't show a conflict between the two, I submit that they are in fact the same pattern viewed at different angles or under different lighting conditions. If this is the case, there would be the 9 colors (Aqua/Green/Pink/Navy/Purple/Red/Blue/Teal/Yellow), 3 patterns (Cloud/Spotted/Black) and 2 shapes(Cylinder/Oblong).
Teal spotted/mottled is a good example. Green was at one time a good example also, but I don't know now. There are definetly 4 patterns, 9 colors, and maybe two shapes, I'm still not convinced on shape personally, I think the differences may be regional. Someone who has both at the same mine (+/-) run the same stone and see if they get different results. I know from different mines they produce differently but I've never seen a single mine produce both shapes for the same color/pattern. Shrug. --Shadus
Edit 2: And with all the changes its totally impossible to presently tell anything at all in complete honesty. *sigh*
Following the 8/29 and 8/30 changes, I have a mine (#1, below) which produces both Purple/Spotted Cylinder (+) and Oblong (-) stones; there is definitely a difference there; the cylindrical stones produce Strontium when refined, and the oblong stones make garbage (sand, I think, I don't have my notes with me at the moment). Mine #2 makes both +/- Blue (Sky)/Spotted stones, but I haven't been able to isolate pure oblong from that site yet. Also, can someone run/post a test series on the Green/Teal mottled/spotted stones of both shapes? The data we have on the Smelting page at this time has no information regarding stone shape following 8/30. I will be very interested to see how that turns out. --Amanesus 9/1
