EgyptQuest is a mapquest inspired mapping interface for ATITD. It it currently maintained by
TheDude. Its current stated goal is to provide "A map of any size, of any area of egypt, centered around any point". This should provide a view detailed enough to view the exact location of canopies in a dense city. If your curious how it works, you might be interested in

Status
Egyptquest is currently version 1.0(initial release) Aug 8, 2004
Features
- Infinite pan/zoom/scale
- Customized output image size
- Annotations
- Overlayed as the image is generated
- Fixed and real size
- Solid or transparent
- Text label
- From wiki pages containing maps
- From eGenesis provided data (hopefully...)
- From almost any data source (see wishlist below)
- 3rd party application support
- limited for now, since i cant decide where i want to get annotation data from. plans are to allow 3rd party annotation data from any source. the backend can also serve annotated images.
Useage
The X and Y coordinates are the centerpoint of the map view. Map Size is the width, in coordinates, of the map you want to view. Image size is the size of the output image, in pixels. the URL can be any page from the official ATITD wiki containing a map, and works mostly right now.
WishList
This is a list of features that i would like to someday see in EgyptQuest. Please add to this! all crazy ideas will be considered :)
- List all player canopys from eGenesis provided data
- This is a big big maybe... still talking to teppy about it --TheDude
- List all markings from all maps on the wiki.
- of course, id have to cache this. or mjr would kill me :) --TheDude
- Private annnotations
- I cant think of a good way to do this. i may be able to provide an interface to .info/.net to use their authentication. --TheDude
- Route mapping
- if the road colors stay predictable, i might be able to have it follow the roads, and find the shortest highway path between two locations. this might be a bit crazy though :) --TheDude
- Actual images
- Technicly, i think i could support actual ingame screen captures to use at high zoom levels, if anyone seriously wants to do this, i can probably make it happen. it could be a nightmare to view with all the different video cards/settings out there.
Suggestions
Any changes to the way things are drawn, or look in general.
Bugs
This is a list of all known problems. please include the URL of the map that isnt working properly here, or in a forum PM to me.
