The Test Of Zhadu

This may or may not be the game of Zhadu described here and PDF, with example game.

SnakeEyes - Hakummar, a previously expired/closed account, appeared at several megas beginning in CCR at 4:15 EST on 2/29/04 to release the test. He released it by sharing the skill - the Way of the Zhadu, filed under W in your skill set menu - to small groups of people at the megas. The Way is teachable in four lessons. His words at the CCR release follow:

Hakummar: ``Your intention in Zhadu is to Remember the Sharing This occurs when your first and last stone captured... Equals the sum value of Four. Any other stones removed beforehand are simply considered forgotten. Zhadu is neither Taught nor learned, but remembered. Within the wepwawet Spirit Arena, there you may find Zhadu. ''

Teppy[eGenesis]: 4 stone is an instant win if captured first.

Rules of the game:

(rules can also be found on the website above, but I thought I'd try to summarize them here - Kalar)

Zhadu is played on a board of 8 equilateral triangles, each having 4 spaces in them (the three corners and the center). Players each receive 5 pieces, which are identified by numbers (1, 2, 3, 123, 4). Players take turns placing their stones on the spaces on the triangles on opposite ends, as well as the center spot on the triangle next to the end triangle. (This makes more sense if you look at the pics of the board, either in weppy or at the site.) Once you place a stone, click the center of the board to end your turn.

Once all stones are placed, players take turns moving their stones. Each stone may move as many spaces as its number (so 1 can only move 1, 2 can move 2, 123 can move 1, 2, or 3). Movement can be to any other spot in the current triangle, or from one corner spot to an adjacent corner spot. Stones cannot move through each other. To capture an opposing stone, you must land one of your stones on an opposing stone. Once this is done, the stone is removed from the board.

To win, the total of the first stone you capture and the last stone you capture must equal 4. So, for instance, if you capture the enemy 1 stone first, then you have to capture either the 3 stone or the 123 stone (123 stone counts for all of these for the purposes of winning.) Capturing the opposing 4 stone first is an autowin. Capturing other stones are ignored for the purposes of winning (so, if you had the enemy 1 stone first, then capturing the 2 or the 4 won't win you the game).

First stone captured Stone you must capture to win
4 stone n/a - autowin
123 stone 1, 2, or 3 stone
3 stone 1 stone or 123 stone
2 stone 123 stone
1 stone 3 stone or 123 stone

Matches need a +2 advantage to win, 2 match advantage to advance in rank.
