I noticed you can only see the prints with shadows on. I found a whole clump of prints at an oasis, eventually narrowing down to a single trail leading away from oasis. I followed the trail until I came to the newest set of prints, which had a black dot in the middle of the prints. I built a desert rat trap on the newest prints, that worked. -Ancano

For us poor foolish sods who have spent many an hour trapesing the sands of Egypt to bag not a single rat, could one of the Bwhana's indicate the camera used and relative zoom level? ty, Vraitak (ratless fool)
- My two rat finds were done while wandering the desert in my usual mode - F7 zoomed out a bit. Airmid's picture below is a good representation of the maxzoom range to use. It's very easy to miss these, even if you are looking for them. Note that my rat finds were nearly 4 months apart, and I still need 2 more. OldJoe
Below is the paw print I found on 22nd Feb 05 in VoK.

These white tracks are Rat tracks - when they go up a hill they turn white owing to some sort of graphics problem - losiris
This picture is meant to give an impression of the size of the tracks. Also a glimmer of white can be seen in some tracks: the white pawprint is the actual object that's casting the black shadow pawprint. It's meant to be hidden, but if the hillside is steep enough it shows. (Picture shows the cold end of the trail, at the fresh end the prints are much closer together.) -Airmid.
