Right now, this is just the info we already had on cooking for effects. I'll be cleaning it up if nobody else does in the next couple days.
Please note, I moved all the data to Raw Data, and I also kept the Herbs/Spices/Nutrients (They should be called Nutrients) seperate, since there are so many of them, at Nutrients. Some detailed research into the effects of the more common ingredients and how the result is calculated is available at BaseEffects
Some effects of Mushrooms
Many people have observed that a given recipe can produce different results for different chefs.
What controls this? Is it Avatar-based? Does the location of the kitchen matter? Cooking Skill?
Can a given recipe produce different results for the same chef, at different times/locations?
Yes, Slyfeind-Hotep has made the same recipe 3 times in a row with different effects each time.
Can a given recipe produce different results for different chefs at the same time/location?
Can one meal effect two people differently?
Does a meal being a masterpiece change its effect?
Could higher Gastrology skill change the effects of eating/cooking a given meal?
Eating food that does nothing for you will NOT disrupt the bonus from eating useful food. However, grilled fish are a food just like cookpot foods; if you eat a meal from a cookpot then eat a fish, the fish will override the meal (and vice versa). Food that gives all zero bonuses DOES override the bonus from the last useful dish, however.
It would appear that the food stats do NOT stack with the stats earned from Body tests. [Djehuty] Stat mods do not show up (they show as empty brackets) if you already have a modified number (ie: Acro/dex) - [Astrina] Teppy actually posted on the forums(!) saying that he was making the change Quizzical suggested so that food stats do not stack with permanent stats. e.g. If you have 7 dex, and eat +2 dex, the effective stat is 7 dex. If you have 7 dex and eat +9 dex, the effective stat is 9 dex. Please star (*) anything you test if you have a natural dex bonus.

I thought maybe mushrooms acted as additives, similar to herbs, so I've performed the following tests so far. I started with 4 catfish and 4 mutton, then added 2 mushrooms, like what we're doing with herb tests. I have 1 Dex from acro, so bear that in mind. In the case of no apparent stat increases, I assumed +1 dex from the food.
Note: 3 catfish + 3 mutton +1 mushroom should also work, uses less ingredients and might last longer (needs more testing).
4 Catfish + 4 Mutton + ? Mushrooms (base recipe with no shrooms is +1 str)
