Egyptian Cartball League (ECL) > Rules

Cartball Rule Book

Cartball is an easy and simple game. The rules in here are to be chosen to follow or not.

Terminology

Whistle – The ref will whistle the game down with constant whistles or, to start with a single blast. They use the main channel and any channel available. With this “***Whistle***”

Line out – Each team will line up any number of players from the sideline, on their side. A neutral zone, the same size of the cart is to be created. The cart is hurled down the neutral zone, where it is up for grabs. A referee is to move the cart.

Half line – The line between Midfield and goal line. One per team.

General Rules and Play Start

1 – The cart is placed in midfield. Both sides must occupy one side, and not go to the other side, the ref will countdown 1,2,3, GO, and then the cart is live game. a. If the ball is kicked off and someone is offside. The other team immediately gets first kick. If both teams are offside, penalties offset and it is a kick redo. b. If there is a false start or a team kicks before it is live, the cart is placed at the offending teams half line, and it is a redo. If there is a second offence at the half line, the offending team gives the cart to the other team, and they get first kick at half line.

2 – Each team is permitted 4 players . They must all be wearing a unified color scheme.

3 – There is a minimum of 2 referees. 1 line judge and a play referee. The line judge is ensuring the sideline boundaries are properly judged, and the kick off. The ref is for everything else and the final decisions.

4 - When a team is first to hit 7 goals, the game is over, and the team with the most goals win.

Boundaries.

1 - A player who goes out of bounds cannot be the next person to touch the cart. If he does possession will be given up at sight of the touch.

2 - In the case of the cart going out of bounds. The referee is to conduct a line out.

3 – In regard to goal posts. If the majority of the cart is inside the post, it is a goal. In the case of it being seemingly directly in the middle it is no goal. Anything that is a close call will be counted no goal.

4 - If the cart misses the goal or goes past the goal line, but outside the posts, it is a kick for the defending team’s goalie. The offence MUST be halfway between the defending goal line and midfield on a goalie kick. In other words, give the defense a quarter of the field.

Offsides

There are no offsides while the ball is in play, you can be anyplace on the field.

Goalies

1 – A goalie can play in the field anywhere, they are considered a regular player, just designated by the team to be the last defense if they want.

Interferences

1 - In any case of an interference from outside sources, play is stopped and the referee will conduct a line out at the closest sideline, at the same yard line
