Here are examples of the different type of leaf groupings.

| Palmate | | Leaflets form a fan shape (like palm trees) |
| Pinnate | | Leaflets are opposite each other on the stem (like ferns) |
| Bipinnate | | Leaflets are in pairs of pinnate groups |
