"The word metta comes from another Pali word, mitra, which means "friend." That is why I prefer to use the phrase "loving friendliness" as a translation of metta, rather than "loving kindness." The Sanskrit word mitra also refers to the sun at the center of our solar system that makes all life possible. Aside from a set of tools and items like fishing trophies, most property will be considered communal. At least 10% of our efforts will probably go to research. Contributions to the public good will always be acceptable in lieu of work for the guild. So far we have preferred to tackle most things as a group to increase the apparent reward of our activity.
