Metta

"The word metta comes from another Pali word, mitra, which means "friend." That is why I prefer to use the phrase "loving friendliness" as a translation of metta, rather than "loving kindness." The Sanskrit word mitra also refers to the sun at the center of our solar system that makes all life possible. Just as the sun's rays provide energy for all living things, the warmth and radiance of metta flows in the heart of all living beings. "

Introduction

Welcome to the public information page regarding the guild Metta in Lower Nubia. We are a guild initially formed by 3 close players who migrated together from another MMORPG. I think we hope to remain a relatively small group of players (less than 20?) highly committed to establishing a guild wherein all members can spend their time playing at the things they enjoy. Most of us play 10-20 real hours a week, though that's not an expectation. However, I think we'd all expect that people try to scale their demands according to their contributions.

Members

For the time being we just have two classifications of members. There are membership managers (Elders) and everyone else (Fellows).

Admission Practices

We are accepting applications, but not recruiting. So far we tend to be pretty remote for most player's tastes. Most of us seem to enjoy a fair ammount of solitude, but we strive to make a warm welcome for all visitors.

Aside from a set of tools and items like fishing trophies, most property will be considered communal. At least 10% of our efforts will probably go to research. Contributions to the public good will always be acceptable in lieu of work for the guild. So far we have preferred to tackle most things as a group to increase the apparent reward of our activity.
