Basics
Most mines are public and most public mines will have ore carts for anyone to use. The guild has guilded carts at the LN steel mine. A list of the best mines currently known can be found at
http://wiki.atitd.net/tale2/Mines . Luckily many of them are in RSO.
The key thing about mining is to get your ore mixture right - it is not difficult.
- To determine what is in an ore stone, you need to have the Minerology skill.
- If you click on a stone, you will see the ores that it contains.
- A list of the metals that different ores relate to can be found at http://wiki.atitd.net/tale2/Mining/Name_Chart.
There are a number of different furnaces, the choice you make will determine which stones you use. Craft and Amalgamation furnaces are the easy ones which use only pure stones (for impure stones, see By-Products below). The more complex ones are described in the main wiki.
- Craft Furnace - A craft furnace holds 25 stones. Any more just fall out of the cart, and there is no way of knowing if they are the stones with the best or worst number of ore clusters. The craft furnace needs 25cc to fire and takes 120 secs.
- Amalgamation Furnace - An amalgamtion furnace allows you to use a combination of ores to make certain metals. They key ones are Steel, Bronze and Brass. You have to be careful to count the number of clusters of each ore in a smelt to get the desired result. An Amalgamtion furnace holds 22 stones, needs 18 cc to fire and takes 430 secs.
By-Products
- Impure stones can be gently broken apart using a Jeweler's Pick.
- Despite the message, by-products are not waste. Dirt, Lime and Clinker are all used in the game.
- You may get gems when you break apart a stone.
- Each mine will give pre-determined gems and by-products
