Details of how to make a tent are on the wiki, however you have to learn a few things and since many of these things can be done more easily than on the island, all the steps are highlighted here.
Your tent will require
- 200 Boards
- 80 Nails
- 4 Canvas
- 2 Linen
- 12 Rope
Boards
Wood can be planed using a carpentry shop. The benefits of a carpentry shop are
- You can do 50 boards at a time (start Planing) if you don't move.
- Carpentry shops use carpentry blades rather than stone blades. They last for about 1000 boards. For now, don't worry about making carpentry blades if they break - ask an elder to replace them.
Flax Products
On the island, you will have learnt to make canvas, linen and rope. The same principles apply, however things are easier in Egypt.
- Flax seeds - much better seeds are available. Details of the best seeds currently available at the guild can be found on the private guild Notices page. Seeds are available in the Initiate chest by the small distaffs.
- Hakling rake - available at the guild, it does the same job as a flax comb, but lasts a lot longer.
- Flax gins - now available, these automate the raking process and therefore do not have an endurance timer. These must be operated by someone who has passed an art test.
- Small Distaffs - the guild has six small distaffs available for your use.
- Hand Loom - hand looms do not break strings and so do not need re-stringing.
- Automatic Looms - now available at the guild. They are less efficient than Hand Looms, but with the quality of seed currently avaiable, probably your best choice of loom.
Nails
To make nails, you need iron and charcoal. 1 iron will produce 24 nails, you will therefore need at least 4 iron.
Charcoal
In future, you will learn more efficient methods of making charcoal. However, for now, make 5 cc by lighting a bonfire with 56 wood and leaving it.
Iron
Iron comes from mines. We have a wiki page outlining the principles of
Mining. The best mines are shown on the EMC wiki page (
http://wiki.atitd.net/tale2/Mines). If you want a closer one, there is an iron mine at 1253, 2794. Iron is available on level 1, gold on level 2 and (I have been told) iron and copper on level 3. It is not pure so you will have to discard impure stones or break open if you have a jewlers pick to get by-products (in this case, dirt and topaz). You will need 25 cc to smelt the iron from the stones in the craft furnace. The iron ores are
- Kamecite (TC+)
- Magnetite (TC-)
- Hematite (YM+)
- Bernalite (KS+)
- Fayalite (TM+)
