The Test Of Life > Egyptian Water Works > Tower Petition

Bringing water to the remote regions of egypt

The Stranger challenged the architects of Egypt to bring life-giving water to the most remote regions of this land.

The scientists of Egypt invented the aqueduct pump and the water towers that distribute water from it. Each tower carries the water a bit further away from the pump and at the same time, the soil around these towers becomes fertile as the water slowly flows from each tower into the ground.

When building an aqueduct that brings water to truly remote regions, the aqueduct becomes so long that the towers that carry it spill all the water before it reaches its destination.

We therefore request that the great scientists of Egypt invent a new kind of tower that does not spill the water, but only serves to hold the aqueduct in place, thereby allowing the water to flow further. These new towers would be cheaper to build since they do not have the delicate mechanisms that irrigate the soil. The area around these new towers would unfortunately not enjoy the benefits that come from the original towers.
