You know me as The Stranger.
As I walk the land, I have come to ponder what makes a true leader.
The ability of guildmates to take turns promoting each other? You have certainly mastered this skill.
Perhaps it's the ability to simultaneously strive for power while claiming you want none? If so, then Egypt is well on it's way to "perfection". What a perfect society of fork-tongued leaders we will be!
Or maybe Leadership is as simple as being able to say that a gathering of like-minded individuals will occur - and having such a gathering actually happen!
And so, my next challenge to you is as simple as that. Organize an event that others find pleasure in attending.
Is this something you are capable of, or do you depend on your Pharaoh for anything more complex than a street-corner huddle?
I give you, The Test of the Host!
-- Gharib
Horus, god of light, goodness and symbol of true leadership, has looked upon our land and judged us lacking. For all the laws and stability you have brought, people are still unhappy. Our land must be more than the processes that cause it to be alive; it must be a place that people enjoy living in. As Leaders of Egypt, it is your task to gather the people together, support them in their work and bring them joy through a variety of events.
The citizens of Egypt will act as judges of your events and show their appreciation accordingly. You must amaze them with your creativity and delight them with recreation. Horus will frown upon any event that does not bring happiness and the gathering should judge the host in accordance with his will.
Egypt’s favorite hosts will be blessed by the grace of Horus and may use his power to promote events.
The detailed design for the Test of the Host can be found at http://atitd.centauri.org/wiki/The_Test_Of_The_Host/Design
This Test is the one created by the Leaders of the prior Age (Tale1) and inscribed on the Monument of Leadership found at -42, 132. The following information is based on the detailed design notes found here and any changes from the design and final implementation have been confirmed.
The concept behind the Test is that Leaders should be able to host events that bring Egypt together. In order to demonstrate and encourage this, the Test requires you to host an event or multiple events (a very general term covering anything you could possibly do with a group of people) which are judged by the participants. You must build a Display of the Host for people to sign up at.
When someone registers for a public event, they get an automatic event-related chat tab that expires with the event is done, six hours unless the event is renewed.
A minimum of 21 people must sign up and must stay within an unknown number of coordinates for at least 21 minutes, at which point they get a popup to judge the event (giving 0, 1 or 3 points). The judging of the event is totally masked from the host so that a fair evaluation may be made. After a successful event (satisfies the minimum people/minutes), the host's test menu will reflect the number of points they have received.
Points gained for hosting events are cumulative (ie. multiple events are encouraged) and a total of 147 points is required to pass the Test. To complete the Test in one go (unlikely), you would need 49 people voting 3 points (or more people voting less).
The Display of the Host allows you to set the event's name/description, and costs:
WARNING
The Display will automatically salvage at the end of the event, which lasts 6 hours unless "renewed" by the host, so this is a very expensive building. You can salvage the Display early, and it ends the event (confirmed you get to keep points)
Salvage is possible However with the expensive cost of the Host Tower... I would recommend having the highest salvage skill availible as I Lost 3 OSM in my salvage attempt. ALSO You may salvage at the end of your event and You still collect points which DO Accumulate ONLY If you have the required people attending otherwise you get Zero. Renewing the Event is a working function and you can extend the time length so that you get the required 21 people to attend. Range of the host is still unknown.---DarkEckos
A Display may not be built within unknown, but the same as the event radius, coordinates of any other Display.
The suggested reward for the Test is the ability to promote other events by clicking on a Display, at which point the following message is sent to the Events channel:
By the grace of Horus, <Person using reward> invites you all to <owner of booth>'s event at <coords of event booth>, titled "<event name>"
An event can only be announced once and the reward only used once per week. - Cannot find any reward at this time, but I will keep looking.
