Welcome to my tips and tricks page

Ok, these are a few tips and tricks for the new people.

Getting started

Ok, when you get to mainland Egypt, one of the first things you will see is a compound. These buildings cost 200 bricks, 100 boards and the Compound construction skill to make. To learn the skill, you will need 100 wood, and to visit the School of Architecture. When you have lernt the skill, you can build a compound, because of it's cost to build, you will need a few items. You can gather slate from river banks, wood from trees, straw from grass and so on. So, you need to make a wood plane, brick rack and possibly a drying rack. When you have got the items to build a compound, and when you have built it, You can then build flax related items inside it. Now you have all the items needed to finally make good game process. WARNING Schools(S<School name>) need you to pay for lessons, Universities(U<Universities name>) teach you techs for free.

Charcoal

Charcoal is needed for lots of things, there are lots of ways of getting charcoal. One way in particular is bonfires. Bonfires need the tech Controlled Burn. To start, make a 37 wood Bonfire and light it. when it burns out, it will leave 5 charcoal behind. Or you can follow this guide to make Charcoal using a Charcoal Hearth. Note:You must know the basic charcoal production skill to use a Charcoal hearth.

To start, you will need about 10 jugs of water, 200 wood and a Charcoal hearth. When you click on the charcoal hearth, click the "regulator" button and set it to 3 if it is your first time. This will make it easy. Ok, click begin and add 3 wood. The 3 little squares are the vents. The one to the left is to open it fully, the middle one is half closed, and the one to the right is to close it. Don't let the air bar go over the wood bar, just under is perfect. If the heat/danger bar goes to high, add '1' water. Adding water will make the air, heat and danger bar go down. Closing the vent will make the danger bar go down, the heat to go up and the air bar to go down. If the air bar goes down to much, open the vent fully, this will make the heat go down and the air to go up. It is best to keep the vents in the middle. When the progress bar goes green, it means you can take the charcoal when the oven has cooled, in other words, the fire out. To do this, close the vent fully and add all your water. When it is finished, you will be able to take your 50 charcoal.

Glass making

Ok, Glass is a funny material. For 1 deben of glass you need 1 lime, 2 pot ash and 10 sand.

Potash

To make potash, you will need ash. To make ash, you need a bonfire. My favorite recipe is:

277 wood bonfire, light it, at 177 wood, add 152 carrots. Yields 28 ash. 277 wood bonfire, light it, at 177 wood, add 152 carrots, at 87 wood, add 117 cabbage. Yields 45 ash.

To get carrots and cabbage, you need the seeds. Universities of body give out seeds to paid accounts. You will get 4 seeds per universitie of body. Then you must grow them. Well, back to the topic. When you have your ash, you will need a kettle. Kettles can be built if you have the Cooking Skill. They take time to build so it's best to use a public one if your new. When you have access to a kettle, chose 'Potash'.
1. Load requirements 2. Ignite (cost 5 wood), Burns off 1 wood in lighting 3. Wait until the fire burns till 0 (4 wood) 4. At 0 wood stoke 4; water is at 24 now 5. At 0 wood stoke 5; water is at 20 now 6. At 0 wood stoke 5; water is at 15 now 7. At 0 wood stoke 5; water is at 10 now 10. At 0 wood stoke 5; water is at 5 now. 8. Let it burn out. 12. When it has burnt out, you will get the option to take the item. Don't discard it. :) The process takes around 14 minutes and 29 wood.

Lime

Lime is from limestone witch can be gained while mining. When you have some limestone, you need to get out the bonfire again ;-). Make a 46 wood bonfire, add 15 limestone. Yields 5 lime.

Sand

Now, you can use normal sand for normal glass, but you can use White sand for fine glass.

Making the glass

Now, when you have your glaziers bench built, you can make glass. You will need material for 19 glass to start(you need at least 20 glass to start making stuff). Normal glass needs a temperature of 3200+ to start. Starting the glaziers bench varies with charcoal. Now, add 2 charcoal, wait till the temperature rises, add another charcoal, repeat until you have added 8 charcoal(added 4 times). if the temperature goes to 3200+, when you next melt glass, that's what you will use. (For fine glass, it's normally another add.) if it dose not reach 3200, wait until it drops to 0, then try adding 5 times, if not, try to see how many times you need to add for it to reach 3200+.

When it reaches 3200 temperature, melt your glass. You can start to make glass when the temperature is between 1600 and 2400. The time it takes to make them is displayed next to them. When you start making them, if you add charcoal, the time goes up by 10 seconds. WARNING:Do not add 6 or 12 charcoal buttons unless the temperature goes really low, it has been known to jump 4000 temperature.
