Ding, Dong, the vigil's done!

Who, When, Where

Who: Pantherd90, SaRuum, Tenenit, Khellendros, Playon, Divinity, Krankarette, Aaragh, Klaye, Xenlo, Amanesus, Amethyra, Talen, AgathaCathrene, Sallah-Hazerah, Jakik, Nefer-Bast, Cattleman ... and myself. (This list from memory. I'll confirm it later.)
Where: altar just north of the chariot stop in Nile Delta
When: The first toss was at 8:54 pacific. The last was some time about 8am the next morning, if memory serves.

Several people passed during the week this ended, although some had had points from previous vigils. I expect most (if not all) to pass in future weeks on the basis of this vigil.

actual vigil site

The altar is at: 825, 7143, on a hill just to the north of the chariot stop.

2 Huge chests were established, along with a number of Large chests, both vigil-guilded and private.

communications

We used Panther's Den (at 927, 7137) as the vigil communications guild/channel. Once we get the last of the vigil sorted out, we can return his guild to its regularly scheduled uses. Or whatever... :)

public facilities and additional storage

Stonecrop

The guild Stonecrop has a most excellent facility at 860,7045. This is just south of the chariot stop, a big building with green trim.

Amanesus compound

Amanesus loaned us not only his equipment, but also his Tent. We did not abuse his trust, and things have been returned to their normal state.

Pantherd90's compound

Along with the guild, Panther loaned us the use of his compound, which included 4 carpentry shops, a number of kilns, and more. Thank you once again, Panther.

Nearby Mines

Our mining was limited to gems, for the most part, although we did come away with Zinc much in excess of our needs.

Vigil Surplus

What we had at the end of the vigil: vigil surplus

And since I'm posting links, how about this one to the list of sacrifices (and director's commentary... :) ) vigil data

Materials before the vigil

Not much use now, but perhaps someone later may find it interesting. The first number was the amount gathered, the second was my goal.

metals and mine products

Metals are hard to acquire, except during the first 8 or so hours of the vigil. Be warned that when the sacrifices speed up, you may not be able to get more.
27/10 aluminum 24/30 copper 10/10 gold 18/40 iron
0/10 lead 0/10 silver 0/10 tin 30/10 tungsten
Minimum amounts were provided by Amanesus, although kept under his control until the vigil actually started. More was brought during the day as people joined in.

1/20 dirt 55/100 lime 0/300 limestone
The dirt and limestone were satisfied by later donations, for the most part. The lime needed was made on the spot.

gems

6/10 md Diamond 0/10 md Emerald 10/10 md Quartz 4/10 md Ruby
2/10 md Sapphire 10/10 md Topaz 12/50 sm Diamond 0/50 sm Emerald
81/50 sm Quartz 32(82)/50 sm Ruby 21/50 sm Sapphire 52/50 sm Topaz
Gems proved a little easier to come by than I had thought. Still, the diamond mine we had access to spat out more mediums than smalls (the one I'd gone to earlier in the week was the reverse). With everyone pitching in, and donations from all parties, we had enough to cover. And even had some small diamonds to pass on to another vigil.

papyrus and derivitives

1/9 baskets 0/50 dried papyrus 0/1000 papyrus
Papyrus we managed to come up with mostly during the vigil. We had enough seeds to last us, and papyrus products were not a common hit. Some baskets were donated while the vigil was under way, and all baskets present were eaten.

flax and derivitives

500/2000 flax 0/100 dried flax 240/1200 rotted flax 100/500 tow 45/30 canvas
73/300 twine 41/200 rope 0/200 lint 515/500 thread 5/30 linen
We did not start with too much flax. We did, though, reap much more during the vigil. Both a flax train and conventional methods netted us enough to satisfy demands. Keeping a sufficient supply of each product, though, meant we could spare the time to plant, rake, spin, or weave as required. Having 3 or 4 of us ganging up on a hackling rake worked well, in the main. All our canvas was eaten by the vigil, and as we have no linen left, I think we ate that as well.

dig products and derivities

72/200 cuttable stones 0/30 cut stones 12/30 pulleys
6/50 medium stones 0/6 crucibles 0/12 nail moulds
You might be tempted to think that medium stones were a critical resource. But while we needed them, we needed cuttable stones out of all proportion. Not only did we start with an influx of a couple hundred cuttables from a pre-vigil dig, but we begged another hundred or more from folks joining the vigil in progress. And be warned... we needed lots of cut stones as well, so do have at least a handful of rock saws available if you do not pre-cut them.

animal products

420/200 oil 140/300 leather 0/??? mutton 186/400 camel meat
490/200 dung 189/200 saltpeter

We got some mutton in during the vigil, but it wasn't called for terribly often, or in great quantity. Camel meat, though... we had that added in during the vigil too, and did not have great numbers of it left. Oil, Leather, Dung, and Saltpeter supplies held out well.

vegetables

298/250 onions 0/400 cabbages 0/100 leeks
0/200 garlic 0/400 carrots

Lots of veggies were grown during the vigil, a fair amount of garlic and carrots were imported during the vigil, though. And... I still need to find out where those cabbages were grown. I only get one per seed, and it is HORRIBLE!

fish

20/80 abdju 13/400 carp 223/400 catfish 347/400? chromis
0/600 grilled fish 5/80 oxyrynchus 412/600 perch 40/80 phagrus 174/400 tilapia

Phagrus, the Official Fish of the Vigil. Not only did we come short, but we squeaked by a 73 phagrus donation only by virtue of some last minute trading done by Cattleman. (That, after I'd given up hope of our succeeding in it.) EmmieDeGhost also donated 14, which helped with a further sacrifice. And this was with EVERYONE in the vigil going out fishing for the blasted things. Please, don't cook them... someone will want them for a vigil.

foragables and misc

0/40 ash 18/300 beeswax 36/400 boards 49/20 brick racks
1180/800 bricks 300/400 charcoal 200/400 clay 512/500 firebricks
34/30 flint 16/30 grain mortars 350/400 honey 300/150 jugs
765/1000 silt 170/100 slate 12/20 slateshovel 52/50 stone blades
25/60 sulfur 90/400 straw 174/2000 thorns 500/1000 wood

Most of these were no real problem. We went through all the sulfur that was collected (what is above plus 250 more), and we had a whopping 216 slateshovel sacrifice... that we met! We ran out of boards several times, but managed to restock. Same with wood. 777 wood sacrifices eat up a 1K wood stock real fast. Lots more flint than I ever expected to see in one place, much of it now gone.

A couple of large (250+) orders for jars came and went too...

Materials pledged

(It isn't on site, but you intend to bring it.)

AgathaCathrene brought...
300 Charcoal 200Clay 500 Firebricks 40 flint 75 grilled fish
200 honey 500 silt 100 slate 18 stone blades 200 water in jugs
350 boards 50 brick rack 600 bricks 45 canvas 101 clay
15 cut stone 22 cuttable stone 20 dirt 53 dried flax 5 flax
100 grain mortars 50 leather 5 linen 7 MQ 4 MR 2 MS
6 medium stone 10 MT 200 mutton 200 oil 15 pulley
222 rotten flax 97 saltpeter 30 SQ 14 SR 20 SS
11 ST 76 tow 500 wood

I'll also bring a complete set of seeds, in case someone needs to grow veggies, but I would like to have those back at the end. ... did you get all your seeds back? (that goes for anyone else who brought seeds)

From Amanesus (on request):
140 Copper 120 Iron 30 Lead 20 Tungsten 9 Silver
8 Tin 150 Leather 900 Oil 900 Onions 250 Sulfur

Most of the silver was used, some tin, lead, copper. The sulfur, as well. I hope that most of what you donated was returned...

Lessons

Hackling rake built at my compound, enough nails/boards/bricks to produce another on the spot if needed. There are 4 public true kilns at my compound, and 4 more at the compound next door, which is at least no further from the vigil site than Stonecrop. I can pound out replacement carpentry blades in well under a minute as necessary, provided I don't run out of iron (I have well in excess of 100 at this time). - Amanesus
