Guild Hall

Provides shared ownership of buildings, a chat channel and access permission system to a group of people. Please see Guild Ranks as a guide to guild permissions.

A guildhall may be expanded after being built to accomodate more members (though this costs more than building for the full size initially). See the expansion section at the bottom of this page.

Comments

• A guildhall makes a good infinite container for bricks and boards.
  • This may well be a bug, as when you build it, there is a message saying how much in total the guild hall can contain
• Once named and operational, a guild hall may be repositioned infinite times (utility menu), which allows for massive scale brick/board movements.
• However, Guild Halls can't be renamed, and can't change their start-up status of being secret
• WARNING - Tearing down a guild hall will disband the guild, and any guild-owned property will be inaccessible until it is available under DPPRA.

Expansion

Expanding a guildhall costs the same as building a new one, except that you recover half of the materials used to build the current hall. It is cheaper to build a hall larger than you need, rather than upgrading the hall by 1 as people join.

The expansion cost going from size A to size B:

• (50 + 2*B² - A²) boards
• (50 + 4*B² - 2*A²) bricks

Or, for the incremental cost of adding 1 member, if N is the starting size:

• (N² + 4N + 52) boards
• (2*N² + 8N + 54) bricks

Q - whats ^?

A - ^ = to the power of, ^2 = to the power of 2, or squared.
Addendum - That's the formatless way of doing powers. The wiki supports  (superscript) so that should be used, giving B². Have updated the above, but am leaving this question in for now. - miceless

Secret

It's possible to build a guild hall with it's location secret and/or the guild roster secret.

On selecting "Hide Guild Location", doing an /info on the guild hall will display "Guild Location is Hidden"

On selecting "Keep Membership Secret", doing an /info on the guild hall will display "Guild Roster is Secret". Early in the telling, you could still find out whether someone is in the guild by doing an /info (person), but secret guilds no longer show up there either.

A known (but unfixed bug) with a secret roster is that the elders won't get a "xxx members of 50" message or the likes, so it's manual counting to see if your guild is full.
