THE MISSION OF SOWETO&CO is to support the growth and fellowship of all members personally and in the game, just as a modern healthy family does in real life. That is why we are more commonly known as "Soweto's Family".
GUILD MEMBER CONDUCT GUIDELINES
- Treat others as you wish to be treated. This to us implies the following:
- Remember behind every avatar is another human being. They laugh, cry, hurt, and have a real life, just like you do.
- This guild does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, creed, sexual orientation, or any other basis. We do not tolerate discrimination or hateful behavior of any kind. (Tolerance is NOT acceptance. You have to tolerate other's differences, this does NOT mean you have to agree with each other's decisions.)
- Everyone WILL be treated with basic decency and respect at all times. This means you will NOT call them names or pick fights with them in guild chat no matter how much you hate them or think they deserve it. (Doing so is grounds for immediate demotion. - We DO expect mature behavior from our members. This means taking responsibility for yourself and your own behavior.
- Please remember that children do play this game. Some of our members play this game with their children. Therefore please keep that in mind when you are saying things in guild chat. There are guilds that are oriented towards people who wish to use language and have standards of conduct which are not family-oriented; this is not one of them. Specifically, this means:
- Foul language is not welcome.
- Sexual themes and teasing should be kept to a PG rated level. Think: Would you really say or do this in front of your own family at a reunion? How would your grandmother, or the parents of your 8 year old cousin react if you did?
- Everyone has a right to free political expression; however, when those subjects cross into the sexual arena please do try to avoid explicit language.
- The Guild has no political or religious views apart from those which are an inherent part of the game. Individual Elders each have their own opinions; when they express those they are speaking for themselves and NOT for the Guild.
- All views are welcome so long as they are not expressed in a hateful or derogatory manner.
- You always have the right to express your opinions, however, please be considerate of other guild members as well. If no one is interested in your opinions but you, your best course is to drop the subject and perhaps seek advice on how to be more persuasive or engaging on the topic. If only one other person is interested in your topic, it is courteous to take that conversation private. Please note that you are not required to do these things, but if you do it is considered a sign of mature and respectful behavior on your part. TYVM.
- Remember, the guild Elders DO communicate. If you have spoken to one of us on a topic there is no need to go to each of us individually and ask about that same topic. TYVM.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Guild Hall at 837, -1155(next to SArch on the Nile) in Karnak has been upgraded to 150 members. Merry Christmas, from Shivani.Support our family members' voting projects! Please see this list to assist you in locating the projects FamilyJudgingProjects ....And just to clarify folks, what this means is 'please go cast a vote'...it helps everyone, including you, to vote. And, AS ALWAYS, please vote honestly. Overrating projects because they are a friend's just hurts everyone in the end. (I think everyone knew this is what we meant but it pays to be crystal clear. ;P Thanks all.)
