I feel that, with the exception of life, the architecture tests do not really prove a perfect society, instead: just that we can build big things.
Test of Architectural Achievement
To Begin
- Any Egyptian may put forward one of their own compounds as a candidate for Architectural Achievement.
- This would be done by selecting an option in the special menu of a compound you own, and only if you are signed up for the test.
- When doing so, they must state the purpose of the candidate compound. Eg. Glassblowing, Smithing etc.
Judging
- Upon visiting a University of Architecture, and choosing the relevant judge Architectural Achievement option, Seven Egyptians of at least Initiate of Architecture shall be chosen randomly and given a free way point to a random compound submitted for Architectural Achievement consideration.
- The Judging Egyptians will then have one week to visit and use the compound.
- At the end of the week, he or she will be asked to evaluate the compound on various factors including, but not limited to:
- Location -How close is it to materials needed?
- Looks -Incredible or eye-sore?
- Building Layout -Do you have to move to far to finish your processes?
- The judge will be asked to score each out of ten. (Done via 'tests' menu on the building?)
- If within 3 days from the judging (10 from initial submission) any of the judges have not judged, they will be randomly replaced and the new judges will have 7 days to use the compound and another 3 to score it.
Optional
- Perhaps a check could be done to make sure that the judge has used the compount at least once in the week given, or they will not be allowed to judge?
Passing
After 7 Judges have voted on the same compound, if its percentage total score is higher than 70%, and higher than any other compound (not already passed), it shall be declared an Architectural Achievement at the weekly passings, and the creator shall then pass the test.
Possible Rewards
- Compound becomes maintained by the state. (It does not degrade, even with no cornerstores)
- Compound gains 'Architectural Achievement' title.
Feedback/Opinions/Questions
Post your thoughts here.
- Too easy, too easy to game. All I need is 7 friends to give me 100%. In fact, that would probably happen SO MUCH that the weekly test passes would get clogged with ties, just like the original release of Freeman was set up to do. Nice concept tho. ~Shivani
- Changed a bit to take this into account. I feel that random selection of initiates would stop this? (Of course you might be friends with everyone :P)
- How would you take into account the players that favor the Architecture discipline but work solely in a guilded environment? Not having a compound of your own would certainly put a damper on things as written. Also, there are multiple 'classes' of players out there. Most players do NOT do things efficiently or in an organized manner and wouldn't know efficiency if it bit them on the nose. How are these players supposed to judge something they can not recognize? Example: If a mosaic design is scrambled, and you can't make out what it's supposed to be, do you give it a favorable vote? Chances are, you do not. I know I don't! Peer Review and Architecture are so far from each other in the spectrum of the game, that I do not think they can ever effectively meet with an reasonable outcome.
- I'm not sure I understand the first point, but to answer what I think it is saying: Are tests meant to conform to how players live in order to make them simpler? As for the efficiency point; If the judges don't find it efficient, then it's not. In the way that if it is `efficient` and thus makes it easier for said judges to do what they have to do, then they will find it easier to do the things they have to do. Even if they do not notice consciously (could be wrong here, I guess) they will still find things easier and be more `attracted` to the building.
