Some ideas for changes to Sphnx
- I believe the sphinx test is a great basic idea, similar to octecs ghost , with a few tweaks , I think it can be a great arch test , combining a little bit of the funary temple influence to it . With my idea below I think it can be played with mutiple strategies , creating a test where you not only need to be able to grind away at a few of the basic materials , but will also need to play a part of the social game too. I am trying to make it possible so it is not gamed , or would make it more difficult to game. and have it set up so that any player, casual or power player , can have the ability to pass , dependending on the strategy they choose to use. The reward I would like to see for this test , is an unlimited place to store clincker . Houses have been great rewards for arch players in the past , but what would be of huge help to arch people , is to have this sphinx to store all that unwanted clincker . Please give all the feedback you can. Post to the bottom on this page , but please dont change what I have written. Thanks : ) .
- Passing the Test I think it was already agreed that the person with the highest amount of points for the week passes the test. Sphinx are not subject to ownership transfers and can not be dppra. Only one sphinx per player can be built . A person can however tear down their sphinx, they will only get the base items back , dependant on thier salvage skill , Adornments will not be given back. and any clinker stashed will also be given back . Sphinx that have passed the test , can then be used as umlimited storage for clinker.
- The point system combines funary and a bit of archeologist , using the crystals as mutipliers. Below is a basic idea of what the interface for adding mats might look like .....

This is just an example of what you might see of you were loading items into your sphinx.
- How points are calculated I would like to see points calculated in a way similiar to tiles , ie , the more you add of one item , the less amount of points you will gain , for example .. adding 1 osm would give you 100 points , the second.. 135 points , 7 osm ...200 points. This way it would enourage people to add a variety of items to their sphinx. Each item has a differnet degree of rarity. Points are carried over from week to week.
Now the use of crystals as mltipliers... each set of adornments Cut gems , Marble and Lg gems has a corresponding set of crystals , for each crystal you have installed , it mutiplies you score for that set of adornments by 1.2. I was thinking of how would be the best way to obtain the crystals and see that this test had very limiting gaming ,and room for trading of crystals between players. My intial thoughts are to use the base upgrade as a way to aquire more crystals . This is how it might work... Build your intial structure , along with the base upgrade. (the base items do not have any point value). at this point you will now be given 3 of the same random cystals. You will only be able to use one to fill a slot , for example , you recieved 3 bastet crystals, you can only use one that will mutiply your cut gems , You will need to trade to fill the other slots. In order to gain another set of 3 of the same but randomly chosen set of crystals, you will need to fullfill these requirements , Have at least 1 crystal installed for every set of adornments , and one corresponding item. For example: You have your original Bastet cyrstal installed along with a cut eyelet, you also traded your bastet For a Hathor crystal which is used for your marble , and a Set crystal used for your lg gems. and you intalled a piece of Yellow alabaster and a lg ruby. So basically , you have a crystal and an adorment installed for each. You may now choose to click on your sphinx and upgrade it , at this point , you will be given the list of base items that you needed to fufill ( clay, slate, clincker, cut stone, and concrete) after you load these items , you will be given 3 more of the same , of a random type of crystal , maybe this time you are given 3 Crystals of Thoth. From here the process of aquiring more cystral continues , now you need 2 cyrstals intalled for each set of adorments, and two differnt types of adormnets on your list example
- Cut Gems .. Crystals Installed- Bastet and Hapy, Gems -Eylets and hexas plate
- Marbles... Crystals Installed - Hathor and Min , Marbles- Yellow Alabster and Onyx
- Lg Gems ..Crystals Installed - Thoth and Set , Lg Gems Rubies and Quartz.
Gaining more crystals can only be aquired if you meet the requiremnts, do the base upgrade, and only once per week . I think by having people work for the cystals , this will help to prevent some gaming , as you will have to make the mule work too to gain cystals , and will not just be handed out at the university. This might also encourage people to help others work on this test , as it will help to create a network of more cystals. People can also choose not to trade and just keep adding adorments , but they will have to work harder and be able to aquire a variety of items. I think it has the possibility to be played many ways.
