General Description
A leader knows who to trust through adversity, no matter the temptations his supporters are facing.
A quick summary: Pick Embalmers you trust your life with. Have them make simple devotions for you as you roam the lands of Egypt in a ghost form. The Gods will put more challenges on you. They will present juicy temptations for your Embalmers to betray you.
Starting up
Once a follower of the discipline of Leadership (the Embalmee) has signed up to the test, teh Embalmee can build a Mastaba.
Although not a trivial building, the Mastaba should not require high technology materials.
Once the Mastaba is built, the Embalmee has to select a minimum of seven Embalmers.
The Mastaba consists of :
- A big main building
- A ritual pool
- One Kenobic Jar per Embalmer (each jar is named after the Embalmer).
Example of costs:
- 10,000 bricks - Main Structure
- 5,000 boards - Scaffold
- 2,000 nails - Scaffold
- 2 Marble (easy type) - Ritual pool structure
- 500 Water in Jugs - Ritual pool water
Once the Mastaba and the ritual pool are built, a new channel is created (like a guild tab).
The Embalmee then needs to name at least 7 Embalmers. Each time one is named, both the Embalmer and the Embalmee will be prompted to upgrade the Mastaba with :
- 1 Clay Jug (for the Kenobic Jar)
- 1 [Specific] Paint (for the Kenobic Jar)
- 1 [Specific] Mushroom (to be mixed in the Ritual Pool)
(The Embalmee cannot proceed in the test if there is not enough Embalmers and/or if they don't each have a Kenobic Jar).
Upon the selection of these Seven Embalmers, the Test really starts for the Embalmee.
He now has an option to bathe in this pool and to "Raise as a Ghost".
Ghost Rules
As a Ghost, the Embalmee :
- is not subject to terrain changes. He can swim even in deep waters, ignore steep terrains, etc. This also implies that he cannot take chariots.
- can freely teleport to his Mastaba.
- can freely teleport to any named online player.
- cannot interact with any object, except for checking Ownership and pulling Walls Down on compound (for visibility purposes).
- can chat in Main, private chats, but although he can hear what is said, cannot chat into any guilds - except the Mastaba channel.
- can be totally invisible (both physically (avatar is invisible) and "virtually" (not showing on Friend's list, info shows offline))or ethereal, "visible but see-through".
To come back to normal, the Ghost needs to simply go back to his Mastaba and select "Come back to the Livings" on the Ritual Pool.
Progress beyond the Veil of Death
Everytime the Embalmee goes into Ghost form, he will start a phase in his journey through the Veil of Death, consisting in the following events:
Embalmee : The Whims of Gods
As he enters the Ghost form, the Gods will address the Embalmee and have a whim that needs to be sorted before going to the next event in the phase. Only the Embalmee will be aware of the whim.
Note: As long as the whim is not complete, the Embalmee can go back to life without any type of penalty.
The complete Whim list should be unknown when the Test is released, and would be balanced at the Devs' discretion
It could be (but not limited to):
- Replace one Embalmer by someone else.
- Replace one of your married embalmer by his spouse.
- Hire one Embalmer of your choice.
- Hire one of your Embalmer's spouse.
- One of your Embalmer will have to agree to share your Fate.
- All of your current Embalmers need to bring a new mushroom (same type as before) to refill the Ritual Pool
- Etc.
The Devotions
Once the whim has been fulfilled, the Embalmee can meditate on as many Embalmer's Kenobic Jars as he wants, and will receive a vision of the Devotion this Embalmer will have to do. These devotions should not be complex or too much time consuming. They will always need to be completed by the blessing of the Kenobic Jar at the Mastaba by the Embalmer himself.
Example : Grow some carrots, gather some tadpoles, etc.
Embalmers : Temptations of the Gods
Once the Devotions are known, each Embalmer will receive a Temptation. They can either ignore them, or go to their Kenobic Jar to betray the Embalmee and receive their prize for their treason. If an Embalmer chose to betray, the Embalmee score is reset.
Note: The Embalmer can only betray WHILE the Embalmee is in Ghost form, no interaction is possible out of that, so the Embalmer can "withdraw" from the Test by simply going back to the Livings and not taking another Ghost form again.
The complete Temptations list should be unknown when the Test is released, and would be balanced at the Devs' discretion. The following are simply suggestions.
Temptations are divided into three categories Annoyance, Critical, and Lethal:
Depending on the total number of Embalmers, a different number of each categories will randomly be selected and assigned to your Embalmer (Although only the Temptations to the Embalmers who were online when the Embalmee went in Ghost form will be active)
| Number Embalmer | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | 13 | 14 | 15 | etc. |
| Annoyance | 4 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 7 | 7 | 7 |
| Critical | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 5 | 5 |
| Lethal | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 4 |
Annoyance:
- [One of the permanent stats] of the Embalmee will be added to yours. The Embalmee will lose this stat. This will last for one Egypt Month. (Cannot pas test with, STR and DEX have a higher chance than other stats to be the one the Embalmer is tempted with ).
- You can gather twice the wood as you normally do. The Embalmee will not be able to gather any wood. This will last one Egypt month.
- All your vegetables yields are doubled. The Embalmee cannot grow any vegetables. this will last for one Egypt Month.
- All Offline Chores (incl.Travel Time) accumulated by the Embalmee will count toward yours. The Embalmee will not accumulate anything offline. This will last one Egypt month.
- You can steal 50% of the Embalmee's Travel Time. The Embalmee will lose that amount off his Travel Time.
Critical
- [One of the permanent stats] and [Another one] of the Embalmee will be added to yours. The Embalmee will lose these stats. This will last for one Egypt Season. (Cannot pas test with, STR and DEX have a higher chance than other stats to be the one the Embalmer is tempted with ).
- You can steal 100% of the Embalmee's Travel Time. The Embalmer will have his travel time reset.
- You will be able to access all the Embalmee properties for one Egypt month. Logs will show the Embalmee using them.
- You can steal 50% points accumulated into passing a Test, if the Embalmee hasn't passed this test already. Both the Tests' and the Reborn points will be reset for the Embalmee. Ex. as of T3: Life, Archeologist, Leavened Bread, Cicada, Marriage, Tower, Festival, etc. - this would include Reborn, so an Embalmee could pass Reborn by stealing points.
Lethal
- You will be able to access all the Embalmee properties forever. Logs will show the Embalmee using them. the Embalmee will face his fate.
- You will be able to embody (Log as him) the Embalmee for one Egypt Month after the moment of your betrayal. The Embalmee will face his Fate and only you can embody him.
- You will be able to bring back to the Livings one who has faced his Fate, the Embalmee will face his Fate.
Conclusion and Scoring
- After completion of a phase, the Embalmee will score : (number of devotions) x (total number of embalmers) x (Lengthy bonus). The Lengthy bonus is the number of phases successfully completed in the past, minimum of 1.
- If the Embalmee returns to life with not all Devotions done, no points is scored. Lengthy bonus is brought back to one. (Same whim and temptations will be back as next start-up of a phase, so you cannot "reroll" them) (Returning to life before the whim is done will not reset your lenghty bonus)
- Once the phase is completed and all Devotions have been done, the Embalmee can go back to his Mastaba and either sign up for another phase or go back to life with no penalty. Lengthy bonus are carried over between successful phases, regardless on whether you had a break on the Ghost form or not.
Passing
Note: You cannot be an Embalmee and an Embalmer at the same time.
Note: You cannot be Embalmer for two different Embalmees.
Passings are competitive: either x players with highest scores need to progress y times before passing, or x players with higher scores pass each week, etc. To be tuned and at Teppy's discretion depending on date of release in the Telling.
Scores could possibly decay each week.
Fate
As seen above, some "failures" to please the Gods' whims, betrayal, etc. will bring the Embalmee to his Fate.
Please discuss the following options and suggest here or on the forums, as I think it is really a key point that needs to be agreed beforehand.
Proposals of Fate are the following:
- Death, permanent. (Its clear enough)
- Haunting Ghost, permanent. (A Ghost with a few annoying powers).
- Ghost form, permanent.
FAQs
Q: Can the Embalmee knows who betrayed him, if he is betrayed ?
A: There is no pop-up letting him know, but if the murderer lacked carefulness, an invisible investigator should be able to find out.
