Users > Calixes > Calixes' Wine Data > Debunking Flavor Grids

Despite what some folks say, WINE FLAVORS ARE NOT IN GRIDS! To quash this idea once and for all, take a look at the image below. It shows a map of 256 vineyards laid out in a 16x16 grid, with each vineyard occupying one map coordinate. This is a map of the flavors in this block of vineyards when tasted at zero vintage age. Notice the curves at the edges of each flavor. Also notice the overlap between the Stemmy ("Stem" in pale green) and Hazelnut ("Haz" in pale yellow) areas. Like a Venn diagram, the two flavors overlap, and are both present in a boundary area.

It has been many months since I posted this image, now, and flavors have cropped up all over this block of vineyards. I have run into absolutely no data that contradicts the "flavor blob" idea. If/when time permits, I will update this map further to demonstrate.
