If elected, I will ban the first seven people I see who don't reply when I say "hi :)"
That is a joke, but can easily be misinterpreted and imply complacency, aggresiveness, and/or a lack of seriousness towards the test. EVERY problem has a solution, and most arguments* can be resolved by exploring and properly defining the meaning of what you say.
The banstick gives the authority to properly mediate an argument*. Even where "common sense" and reasoning have previously broken down. Calmly investigating fact from rumour and providing viable alternatives to negative behaviour, i believe, is how such situations should be resolved.
If I cannot convince enough people that I have the qualities to become an effective and trusted DP, then you must convince me to gain my vote. We need to weed out leechers and mules who may not bother participating in, or attempt to game, the further round(s) if advanced.
* Discussion to resolve the "truth" in a statement.
The principle is a challenge not a right. Gaining a level is a reward not a reason.
If that isn't clear enough:
The ability to ban characters cannot be classified as "Intended to be used." or "Intended to never, ever, ever be used." but more as "Would it be used?".
Nobody is going to openly admit that they would use the bans unwisely, or for personal benefit. Everybody knows that the general consensus among citizens is that it should be a last resort. It is not the ethics or the implications of the banstick itself, but that of the holder that we should be discussing.
Please, no soundbites.
If none of the candidates deserve to advance (through virtue of gaining legitimate votes) or the candidates disagree wildly regarding who should advance, then a deadlocked round is not necessarily a bad thing.
We must consider Egypt above ourselves and not advance someone on a whim.
Personally, I have no problem with mules participating in DP groups. The extra time and money put into a mule indicates dedication to the game and deserves a greater say regarding DP.
Although any of the following circumstances are unacceptable:
Above all, have fun and play nice. :)
