RE: Funding for a PAWS Assistance Dog
Hello
Allow me to say Hello: my name is (OTTER)Diana Hedlund_. This letter is to let you know that I have been accepted to receive an Assistance Dog from the Nation’s best, Paws with a Cause, a national not-for-profit 501©(3) agency. It is my dearest hope that I am able to get assistance in obtaining a dog through a contribution to PAWS.
As a recipient of an Assistance Dog, I will become more independent. Paws service dogs are able to open doors, pull wheelchairs, pick up objects, turn on and off light switches and other activities I can no longer do on my own. They are automatically qualified as Therapy dogs that can visit hospitals and homes for the aged.
The costs to breed/rescue, raise, train and place an Assistance Dog and provide lifetime support ordinarily exceeds $18,000. There are no federal, state, or third party monies available for these dogs and PAWS does not
Require their clients to contribute to the sponsorship of their own dog. The wait time for a dog is much longer for a client with no funds.Years, in fact.
