My views on DP

Here are my views on DP and some answers to some major questions. I am not a good speechwriter so don't expect elaborated answers. If you have any more questions, chat me in game or ask me during the debate.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I live in the Netherlands, I am 46, I mainly play in the evening, I am a Software Engineer working for a large Dutch Software Company, I love to do Skiing mainly in Kaprun (Austria) and I don’t like combat games. I do speak 3 languages (Dutch, German and English).

How long have you been playing ATITD, what are your goals in Egypt, etc.?

I started playing ATITD a few months after the start of Tale 1, but that is a very long time ago now and have been playing all that time and will certainly continue to do so :) I mainly play ATITD to have fun, I like to chat, help others (e.g. new players, public CP, pushing blocks, tapping rods, building pyramids etc.). I have my camp in the North of UE.

What makes you desire to pass the DP test?

As stated before, helping people, but also to help solve disputes (this does not mean that I don’t do that already or would stop doing it if I don’t become or become DP). Anther reason is that I think that we need sufficient DP's so we can build the monuments, but the DP should also play at least until the end of this Tale (which of course I will certainly do).

In what way do you believe DP is/is not a leadership test?

I don’t think a DP needs to be a leader, the main thing is that a DP should be trusted with the power that is given to him/her and to use it wisely.

What are your expectations of someone that is elected to the position of DP?

A DP should at least continue to play until the end of this game and be trusted.

What characteristic would make you not vote for someone?

People that do things that do hurt, others and/or the community.

When is it okay to lie?

I don’t think its ok to lie, which does not mean that you cannot bend the truth.

Okay let us get it over with, where are you on banning?

I think that a full ban is only a last resort and is mainly for things that have a major impact on the community; I would be very reluctant to use it and would if possible first consult several other players before using it, if time permits. If a player is grieving other players and/or is causing havoc and if the player does not response to mediation, I would consider temporarily banning him/her, but even in those cases I would be very reluctant.
