CONFIRMED BY APOPHIS: TEST STRIPS ARE EFFECTIVE ON THE INSTANT OF INFECTION. THERE IS NO INCUBATION DELAY BETWEEN INFECTION AND TESTING POSITIVE. Symptoms may still take time to appear.

After remaining healthy and isolated for 24 logged-in hours, I clicked on a known infectee and performed the Litmus Test: Lung Spore Disease on them. Result was POSITIVE. I then immediately clicked on myself and repeated the test. Result was NEGATIVE. Will report again at 24 hours and remain isolated. Test Result: 24 logged-in hours later, still healthy. Conclusion: Clicking on an infectee will not *always* infect you. Hypothesis: Clicking on an infectee will *never* infect you. Test continues. -Degas-

As an observation, I got a treatment recipe with my hubby's healthy account from sbody...he then got infected and got the door slammed in his face at sbody (whereas I, who had also previously picked up my recipe, got told I already had one). Hubby then drank the Verdant Squill potion and returned to the sbody, where he was now told he already had a recipe. It appears that using the sbody/UBody to determine your own health is doable, even if you've already picked up a treatment recipe. ~Gemstar

During a trade, tested both ppl, both tested negative. Trade transacted. Sickie ported into middle of us. Immediately tested positive on both originally healthy ppl. Got cured. Tested negative. Ported home. Clicked a sickie to test, and immediately tested sick again myself. Got cured a 2nd time, tested immediately, tested negative. ~tat2mikki

Spouse(mule) has been logged out for entire event. Logged him in today after curing myself the 2nd time. Used him to do some chores. Things he did that I had done while sick....checked water mines, stashed things in a chest, and harvested grass from a greenhouse. Immediately tested POSITIVE for the disease. Thus, the disease CAN be transmitted by using chests/buildings recently used by an infected person. Unknown as to how long the spores stay active in the immediate area but definitely seems to remain active (infectable) for some period of time. tat2mikki

All tests done during and around the special VOK event are invalid. The disease was turned off during that time.

YendorsSlave was stading around the 4th Altar in VOK for about 3 hours, and in light of the above, never mind :-).

Ekestia was sick for couple days, decided to get cured so I did it, soon as I got cured I went to a kitchen and eat from it. Tested positive for infection on the spot. Conclusions: there wasn't an incubation period (I went from sick to cured to sick in less then 5 minutes). 1 of 3 possible transmission triggers: 1 - I used private chat with someone that was sick there; 2 - the use of the kitchen; 3 - Proximity to someone sick.

Gemstar and BubbaHotep tested negative (sbody confirmation). We then did a beacon with Zarrehp (confirmed sick). Zarrehp and Gemstar chatted in private chat, but BubbaHotep did not chat with either, either in main or in private chats. Immediately after the beacon, both Gemstar and BubbaHotep went to sbody (about 15 min lapse to get there) and were told they were sick. During the beacon event Zarrehp and Gemstar/BubbaHotep kept a distance between them, taking turns moving upto the beacon altar. Items handled by Zarreph and picked up by Gemstar and BubbaHotep were only the gems via the beacon altar. Gemstar did additionally pick up cucumber seeds dropped by Zarreph. No one clicked on anyone else during the entire encounter (ie no trades or "gives" were made between sick Zarreph and healthy Gemstar/BubbaHotep. Zarrehp did not cough or have a stat timer during the entire encounter. ~Gemstar

Controlled testing with Strips

Following tests between Lukeera (well) and EldradUlthran (sick) testing between each action.

• /chat from a distance negative
• Proximity negative
• Talking in Main negative
• Clicking each other negative
• Giving items back and forth negative
• Eating from the same kitchen negative
• Acroing negative
• 9 teppy min elapse since initial proximity postive

9 teppy min after we started this Lukeera tested positive this was at least 5 teppy min after we stopped particular activities.

We then attempted the same experiment with Lukeera's husband waiting 15 teppy min before starting each new behavior. Additionally Eldrad coughed on meserit. None of the tests came up positive. We were never able to infect meserit. Using both Eldrad and Lukeera to attempt to infect him.

Conclusions:

• Due to the lack of novel activities between testing negative and testing positive, either there is a delay between getting infected and testing positive with the test strips, or some form of variable extended contact causes transmission
• Due to the fact that we were unable to infect meserit one of the following is true

1. there is a very large variable time for getting someone infected
2. different people have different chances of infecting each other (similar to acro master-blur)
3. there are some time based restrictions on the number of people you can infect (can only infect 1 person per hour for example). This does not explain Lukeera's inability to infect meserit, only Eldrad's inability.
4. some other element limiting the spread of the disease

It has been reported on this page that Apophis has confirmed that test strips are immediately effective, although an infectee may remain asymptomatic (not coughing) for some period of time after contracting the disease.
