Red Sand Megalopolis > Infrastructure

Home>>Red Sand Megalopolis>>RS Mega Infrastructure

It takes 836,502 debens of material to constuct a standard mega. We can store 84,100 normal boards, 435,000 bricks, 69,200 nails and 72,400 concrete in the contest booths. That leaves 175,802 debens of material that need to be stored in chests.

The following could store all of the items for the mega:

1 small chest for the 148 cut gems
3 huge chests for the 44,800 paints
8 huge chests for the 118,000 treated boards
1 medium chest for 1,504 metal products (600 copper straps, 100 gold, 800 iron bars, 4 brass plates)
1 huge chest for the 9,920 cut stone
1 medium chest for the remaining items (1,200 medium quartz, 150 canvas)
1 huge chest for overruns on items

This totals 1 small chest, 13 huge chests, 2 medium chests and 4 contest booths.

Building Goal Current
Carp Shops 10 10
Stud. Forges 10 -
Brick Machines 3 3
Greenhouses 3 3
Water Mines 1-2 -
Huge Chests ? 4
Contest Booths 4 3

Brick Machines need tuning. We should probably upgrade them when we get some concrete.

We probably won't need as many forges, as most metal will be done off-site.

Mentemhe:

Currently, the plan is for production to be decentralized, based on where it is most effectively done, with the following suggestions:

Nails: Should be done at the Megalopolis site if at all possible. 1 iron = 24 nails, so it will take a fraction of the food and WP time to get the iron down and then make the nails. If anyone is willing to make the necessary cc on site let me know your preferences (heart/oven/bonfire), and I'll work on getting them built as needed.

Gems: Wherever the cutters want to work :) There aren't so many it will be an issue. If you have gems to donate, talk to the cutters directly to set up minimum-time transfers, or bring them on site with other loads and they will be picked up intemittently.

Boards: Wood is relatively scarce in this chunk of Egypt. If you have access to mass carpentry shops feel free to make the boards before bringing down, otherwise bring he wood and people on site can plane them - there is no travel benefit for either solution, really.

Paint: It appears that much of our needs are being donated. That being said, I believe most recipes are nearly 1:1, so again it does not matter where it is done.

Non-nail metal goods: Will be simplest to build at home and bring in when finished (quantities are too low to matter).

Cuttable Stone, Cement, Treated Boards: These are the true volume of the project in both quantitiy and labor. The Co-op (approx. -250, -500) has all of the necessary types of facilities available, and is relatively close to minimize travel times. Anyone interested in contributing but who is not directly involved in another section is invited to help donate pigments and wood treatment supplies, dig or cut stones, mix cement, etc.

The first watermine is up at the Co-op, and there is a balanced gemcutting table available as well. Outstanding promises mean that I won't be able to add another watermine for a while (I'm behind by 3, right now), but if anyone wants to donate supplies for one I have a couple ideas about where to place more. Obviously, getting additional ones up before we stat mixing cement would be helpful, but there might be enough in people's camps that it does not matter.
