Visit a University of Leadership to begin the test. You will now have a game option which you may enable to indicate that you are prepared to mentor new immigrants. Enable this option and stand by an active welcome banner to allow prospective mentees to appear in your area.
A paying citizen may choose to build a shrine in honor of their mentor after they have spent 24 hours in-game. (It used to be that the mentor/mentee relationship was official, with mentees only able to build a shrine to the person registered as their mentor. This is no longer the case--a person may choose to build a shrine to anyone they wish.)
A mentor receives one mentor point for each mentor shrine he or she visits and meditates at. Accumulate seven points to pass the test.
There is no way for a mentor to know where a mentor shrine has been placed. If a mentee does not tell the recipient of a shrine where it is, the shrine may as well not have been built.
