Also, as Standard Oil seems to have been left in my hands, I am leaving is useable by the public in hopes of it helping out the community a bit.

Thoughts on our unique opportunities in atitd:

There are SO many things in this game that are very different because they do not have real-world variables involved. Just take a look at the economy. It defies all the real-world rules because the environment is different. The conditions in which we normally view economies don't exist in Egypt. Likewise, we can address land laws and legislative bodies and public works and social issues in entirely different ways. What we choose to do about them is up to us, but how far are we really going to go with a "perfect society" if we only address the issues with which we are comfortable and we feel are absolutely essential to address? I can't be the only one who sees an interesting opportunity to explore something much more than this lovely land that the builders have created. We should be exploring what it is to be a society.

Whether we realize it, we both learn and teach every day, in everything we do, even in liesure activities. It would be a collossal waste of time if we only played games so long as they didn't make us think. Further, it would be an ever greater waste of time if we played games with so many people from all over the world and didn't think _together_.

What we create in this game goes far beyond bricks and boards. We are sharing philosophies, shaping relationships, influencing how others all around the world think about their responsibilities, freedoms, and limitations as individuals in a society. What we give to others in this way -- and what we, ourselves, gain from it -- may end up being far greater than we ever could have imagined we would gain from a game. In the end, though, every society of which we are a part is never more than what we make of it.
