NEWS 6-08-04

Welcome to Rosshambo (of EQ Watchkeepers on Tunare) to Carillon. Nice to have you with us. :D

UPDATE AS OF JUNE 6, 2004:

In the beginning:Welp, things have sure gone apace since my original post back in April. I've been in ATITD a little over a month now, and the most marvelous things have happened. First off, my mentor, Kona, took me under her wing, and I began to see how wonderful this great game (and country) really is. Ancient Egypt is part of my past (for those into that sort of thing), definitely part of my present in a big way, and I can foresee a happy relationship with this Egypt for many months to come.

Carillon in the Desert: Atchoo and I started Carillon in the Desert, with Kona's help, and it just kept right on growing. As of this update, we have 21 members, 75% of whom are marking Carillon as their primary guild. People have come from At's and my EQ Carillon guild to join us (or because of their connection to us on the Tunare server): Siofra, Fenrissa, Grimoire, Sonoroud, Sandghost, Surya, Jasarina, Alyse, Fantasm. Others have EQ in their past and felt comfortable with us: Khemet-Ra, lyttlewing, Haran. Still others just enjoyed the ambience of Carillon and added us to their list of friendly guilds: Kona, Alya, Psychodelica, Setiif, Lazink, ramessez. And for one person, it is his first MMORPG and first guild: Adam70701.

Carillon has its own forum, attached to our EQ forum, which was already set up. If you want to access it, the best way is to go to the Carillon website (http://www.twobells.com/carillon/) and then access the forum from there. The ATITD portion is 3/4 of the way down the page - with 3 forums to its name :) Anyone can view the first two forums. You do have to be an EzBoard member to post. However if you wish to do so, registration is free and relatively easy right at the site. The 3rd forum is for members only. If you are interested in joining Carillon, pop down to the Guildhall (recently updated :) and sign up (in Old Egypt at 736 6085)

The Wedding: Atchoo and I have been married many times (I leave you to figure out if this means other lives as well :) In any event, since we first met online 8,000 miles apart, we have worked to be together in as many ways as possible. At one time, online was the only way to do it, so we got married first, online - not legally, of course, but in every other way possible, including stating before friends, witnesses and our God, that we loved each other and wanted to acknowledge our union publicly. The following year, we got married in real life (July 24, 1999 - nearly 5 years of marital happiness :). Then we got married in EQ (twice, cuz the first time the photographer forgot to take the pictures). So it wasn't any novelty to us...and seemed only natural and right...for us to get married in Egypt. Here is our wedding album. http://www.twobells.com/ATITD/Wedding.htm

The Article: I recently received a wonderful opportunity to write an article about ATITD for GamerGod.com. It has generated a LOT of interest for ATITD apparently. According to the CEO of GamerGod, it has had almost 7 times more the daily clicks on their site than the next most popular article ever (which was a feature article on EQ2!). I am hoping that this will help to bring in more people to play with us so that we don't feel lonely as we wander our beloved land :D Here is a link to the article: http://www.gamergod.com/ (When the article is moved as a feature, I will relink it to the permanent review page :)

The Play: I also had the opportunity to play one of the lead roles in a wonderful comedy written by Freakshow, entitled THE SLEEPING GODS. It was just great! We rehearsed during a two-week period prior to presenting the play today. The usual snafus and foulups were part of the whole thing, but the cast and crew came through in the end, including me who had to wrestle with 30 minutes of being unable to log into ATITD until 1 minute before showtime!! But we survived and had a great time. Many thanks go to Freakshow (Writer and Director), Ajars (Assistant Director and Citizen 2 and stagehand and handholder and general huge backer and supporter), GarretH (Citizen 1, set design and stage set-up), Pharaoh (played himself and also helped immensely with certain props and sound effects), Rhyddereh (Hellinar), Kemisi (Narrator and Sound), Tumaini (Pluribus and Warrior of Anubis), Tweetiti (Meffi, Citizen 3, and stagehand), Bri (Warrior of Anubis and wine provider), Keely (Warrior of Anubis and sound), and special thanks to Atchoo for loaning me his body so I could play Imotep. I understand that the reception of this play was so enthusiastic, Freakshow is thinking about presenting it again in another couple of weeks. He is also making noises like he is gonna write Part 2 of this great saga, in the not so distant future.

As for the future: We at Carillon are working together to form a cohesive unit. When Tale 2 comes along, we think we will be ready for the challenges, the building, and the fun that will present itself to us. Siofra has built her gazebo - I have my beetles - Atchoo is ecstatic about his mines and glassworking - Grimoire is into bunnies and Octet's Ghost - Sandghost and Surya are tripping around Egypt, exploring and learning - Jasarina has created a little nest for herself across the Nile and comes to visit every so often - Alyse pops in and out with endearing regularity - Fantasm looks like he has just found the candy store - and all the rest of the members seem to be having a great time.

APRIL 29, 2004: The only thing I have to offer right now is the freshness of my newbie-ishness. I am looking at everything with brand new eyes...and a lot of joy in my heart. I am burnt out from other games, and ATITD is becoming a haven for me.

However, I am also a professional writer and a good promoter. So I might be of some use here as well. I don't know yet where I fit in...but I am certain there is a place to help others.

Welcome to ATITD, Raya. A haven is really what this game is - a home that you can create, built, maintain, escape from. As long as you keep that in mind and set out to have fun and only do things that are fun for you, it will be a haven forever. Erp, sorry for the longwindedness ;) - Qetesh
