BunniLakeWildlifeRefuge

Welcome to Bunni Lake Wildlife Refuge and Acro Park [ short url: http://tinyurl.com/bpye7 ]

The Bunni Lake Wildlife and Acro refuge is situated near the Fool's Paradise chariot, East of the main Lost in Paradise 'complex'/mega/pyramid.

The park is the result of many individuals planning, contributing and helping to create something unique and special (in our humble opinions) for ALL Egyptians to enjoy.

Bunni Lake is a planned, zoo-themed art (sculpture) and acro park, with clearly maked and appropriately spaced acro stations circling the lake. All acro stations are also within range of the Display of the Host when built near the park entrance. We have also installed hookahs and Yokir tables at the entrance for people waiting their turn in line.

New projects are welcome (and even encouraged (we've even been known to furnish sculpture supplies for a good idea)), however, please contact kap0w (or /chat kap0w) before starting a project.

There IS a maddness to the method... er... you know what i mean... -kap0w

 It couldn't be much easier to find; from the FP chariot stop, take the road East and follow the signs!

The wildlife refuge is currently home to an elephant, a crocodile, a bird, a giraffe, fishes, beetles and rabbits (of course!). Many other projects are in the works, so if you'd like to help in anyway, we'd love to hear from you! :)

The story

When kap0w arrived on the Egyptian mainland, like many newbs, he searched all over for a place to call home. In his wondering about the desert, he saw several terrific sculptures (and many non-terriffic ones) and was inspired to create something with no functional value that citizens would enjoy (read: sculptures). Most art however seemed scattered about, clustered around chariot stops in attempt to simply be initiated into art by begging for votes on a sculpture they spent 5 minutes working on. He set out to raise the bar, just a little... As an initiation attempt, 'Pong' was set up... and quickly dismissed by many as an eyesore. Back to the drawing board...

A bystanding family-member started with, "it'd be cool if you built a..." and 'Crikey' was born. By happenstance, the 'remote' lake kap0w chose for the hunter and his aussie friend had already been homesteaded by Bunni et al. Bunni had built a sculpture of a crystalline butterfly-ish insect in close proximity to the lake. The surounding terrain fostered an interesting idea in kap0w's meager neocortex and Leonard Edward Funt (L.E. Funt) was started. Upon completion, and with a small menagerie of critters, the experimenting was over, and the lake Project was officially started. A THEMED museum for talented artists to excersise their craft. *and there was much rejoicing*

Life went on... in an idle conversation about the Test of the Host, Ellistraee shared her idea for an acro ring with kap0w. They put two and too together and placed acro stations around the lake. Ellis also wanted to serve masterpieces during her acro events (all the cardio can work up an appetite), so DrDave installed a gateway compound and a pair of kitchens.

The park is (and will likely always be) a work in progress. New features are being worked on all the time, so don't be shy to stop on by and see whats going on!

BLWR/the Village brings you: 'got wood?' Contest!!

Contestants will try to guess/estimate the size of the 'wood' sculpture. Closest entry w/o going over wins.

Donations are currently being accepted for the yardstick bonfire at the park entrance.

The yardstick bonfire will be labeled with EXACTLY as much wood is in the yardstick bonfire.

Winners to be announced at a future date, during the end of the world bonfire, where both bonfires will be combined and lit!

hookahs, fireworks, beetles, acro, a giant bonfire, the end of the world... what else do you need?

be there or be square. got wood?

New facilities available

The Bunni Lake Wildlife Refuge (BLWR) team has annexed a patch outside the park to open a new Entemology Dept. The public is invited to visit and learn more about our crawly friends in the desert. The BLWR efforts have also been instrumental in a recent 'free range' movement in Fools Paradise.

Fumigation: the game

I thought this was kind of fun, so i figured i'd write it up and see if others agree.

Ingredients:
* 2+ hookahs (on site w/host)
* 1 stash of smokable herbs (on site w/host)
* charcoal (on site w/host)
* water in jugs (on site w/host)
* ~40 beetles/contestant (byob, or we have free starter-sets from hookah attendant/host)

Fumigation is really very easy...

# Fill hookah(s) with approriate herbs
# light
# Smoke
# Release 1 beetle from your collection of culled beetles each time you smoke
# rinse, repeat (TM)
* If you get a point / taste the herb, release 3 beetles

first player w/o beetles loses.

mostly we just have a free for all, drop a bug on a toke, 3 on a point and go grab some more beetles when gone

it is understood by everybody ahead of time: all beetles dropped are first grab, first serve (or grabbers keepers).

a public entemology clinic & lab is on the SE corner of the park, for research, identification, inspection and renaming purposes.

Tips:
* make sure you really dont want what you drop
** one breeders cull might be another breeders paradigm
* Use the bug hut on the southeast corner of the park so you don't accidentally drop a keeper.

CON+ food can make this an interesting endeavor for those with confidence in their videocard/hardware 8)

i do if you do... ;) -kap0w

it's pretty fun, watching all the crawlies roam. And i mean, even if enough beetles are released to cause lag... how can lag hurt smoking, esp if you have mediocre+ hardware? ... and besides, it's art... right? ;)

it does, however, require some good-old fashioned honor system (which in my experience, has never been a problem for low value goods ~beetles? - kap0w). just a friendly way to achive the almighty perception :)

Lost in the hills

it has been noted by most of Egypt, that a large number of LnP members have been busy elsewhere, with other things... Perhaps clues lie in the hills to the east? </miyagi-san>

End of the world party!!

It's a deadmans party, tell me who could ask for more? everybody's coming, leave your bonfire at the door...

it's inevitable, Tale2 will end someday, Tale3 will begin.

i will not go gently into that goodnight

To celebrate our invetiable demise, We will be smoking ourselves crazy, dancing like savages around a huge bonfire. Pyro (byom), acro and a good ol time await everybody. If you want to help/contribute/suggest, kap0w is a good fellow to talk to.

Update - 22.dec.2005:

We are not soliciting clear cutters. Do not donate gagillions of wood from clear cutting. We like trees more than we like wood, thanks for understanding! 8)
