To help coordinate the setting up of the T3 Goods we now haveThe Goods Board of Directors guild wiki
You will need to be added to the member list to access this, all members of Tellers are welcome.
All Goods Elders have the ability to add members via the Guild management page so if you have been left off the list in error chat one of them.
I’ve just been told that I can be a Teller so what now?
Well normally you have to wait to be given access to the admin section of TheGoods website. Usually the Elder who has told you of your successful application does that. Meanwhile you will need to head to the Goods Board of Directors (aka Tellers Chat) which is located at 2301 2321, behind the store compound and apply. Check first that an Elder is around to let you in. Once you’ve done this you will be given a quick orientation course, usually by the Elder who has earlier contacted you. You will also be given access to TheGoods (our mule). The Tellers chat is there for you to ask questions so feel free to use it and don’t be afraid to ask ‘dumb’ questions.
So do I start Tellering right away?
Once you have had your access level raised to Teller at the website you can begin tellering right away. If you wish you can observe a more experienced Teller conduct a trade.
Someone has asked for a Teller what do I do?
1) First check in Tellers and the Goods that no-one else is dealing with the trader. Some traders open up multiple chat tabs to different Tellers without waiting for a reply and so sometimes we can have more than one Teller warping or running to the Goods. If you wish to use TheGoods please let the other Tellers know that you are about to log-on as her. This avoids any confusion.
2) Once you have established that there’s no Teller conflict you need to arrange to meet with the Trader at the Goods. If you are not at the Goods then give the trader an ETA (estimated time of arrival) at the compound and ask for one from the trader.
3) Because of the way the pricing system works we try to encourage traders to submit their trades once they have reached an agreement with a teller. This lessens the chance of them having a negative trade and finding that they can’t buy the things they wanted. Once a trader informs you that they have submitted a trade you should go to the ‘Tellers’ page and find his/her name in the trades pending list.
4) If their name isn’t there because they are making a trade for someone else or using another’s account then you have to use the /info in-game to check if they have been given permission to use the account . If they are not named on the original account holder’s info then we do not process the trade.
5) The pending trade should be balanced, if it isn’t there will be ‘IMPOSSIBLE (negative balance)’ by it in the list. A negative trade needs to be either deleted or edited so you will need to see what the problem is and ask the trader to resubmit the trade. (see the Goods Trading FAQ section for how to do that). If the trade is ’OK’ then you can prepare for the trade.
6) If this is your first trade this session then check that the trade chests are empty and do not contain any leftover stock. If they do ask in Tellers chat about it, you can temporarily move any contents to the overflow inventory chest but change the label to indicate this.
7) Empty your personal inventory, you can stash your stuff in the chest by the carp shop. Or you can build your own personal chest behind the compound. This sounds tedious but when a trader dumps his trade on you instead of the trade chest or a newb running past graciously gives you a gift thinking they are being helpful you will realise why we advise this. Once you get into the habit it becomes automatic and there is no chance that you will lose your named hatchet in error.
8) Make some note of the trade. Several tellers use the old fashioned paper and pen method. It saves time switching between windows and it forms an easily accessible record should there be a game crash resulting in a rollback or the trade is interrupted mid-way.
9) The trader has arrived so exchange hellos in main and ask him/her to stash in the trade chest of your choice. Check what has been stashed with the pending trade description and once satisfied either validate the trade (if nothing is being bought) or give the trader the things he/is buying. Check with the trader that they are happy and validate the trade.
10) Remember to communicate with the trader: if they are going too fast or are chatting ask them to wait. They are usually very patient just anxious to know that you are still there.
11) If there is new stock in the trade chest as a result of the trade you need to stash it in the active chests.
12) If a trade has resulted in the active chests becoming full or you find there is not enough room to stash the new inventory then you can move stock to the bulk chests. If you have a long queue waiting or have to log-off then place the items into the overflow inventory chest. As usual inform Tellers chat.
