Due to the new skill Enhanced Woodcutting being introduced to our community, Egypt's citizens stand in grave peril of permanently losing their source of wood, through the hewing of trees using Enhanced Woodcutting, leaving only an unharvestable stump behind. Therefore, be it resolved that:
1) Any person who utilizes a tool or skill which prevents the regeneration of a tree for more than 15 minutes, shall carve their name into the stump of that tree. Enhanced Woodcutting will be counted as such a skill.
2) Any tree that can be harvested for wood, may be marked as being "In Use", by harvesting wood from that tree (in any way, except using the Enhanced Woodcutting skill) 3 times in a 15 minute period. These trees will be marked as being In Use for one week from that time. Harvesting wood with the use of the skill Enhanced Woodcutting will not be permitted on any tree that is marked as being In Use. This procedure is repeatable at any time. Harvesting a tree using the Enhanced Woodcutting skill does not mark it as being In Use.
3) After full recovery, a tree that has been cut with the use of Enhanced Woodcutting will have a period of 2 days in which it cannot be harvested using the Enhanced Woodcutting skill. This will enable a grace period wherein a tree can be protected against the cutting down of trees with the use of Enhanced Woodcutting if it is desired, but will still allow never used trees to be harvested using the Enhanced Woodcutting skill.
I dont think this is fair, there should have been more caution in teaching the skill. When EW was found, EM had already been found and we knew the seemingly irreversable effects of that at the time. We have made the bed, we now must lie in it. Sure clearcutting trees may not be fair, but its do unto others as youd have them do unto you. not as they did unto you. (Im aganostic btw) ---Zatarg---
All that is required for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing. Not everyone is aware of EW. Not all of those are aware of the side effects. Not all of those are involved in the discussions and research of those who are. Not all of those who ARE aware, care. And certainly some of those may be agents of the Stranger. Regardless of motive, we are required to act, or suffer the results thereof. We did not make this bed; but without a law such as this, we surely will have done so by inaction. "Do unto others" indeed, Zatarg. We are doing just that. We are providing a way for people to register trees they care about, so "others" can avoid clearcutting them. ---Sabt-Pestnu---
Clearing up what i said: I agree with the protection part. That is fair enough, but EWs should not be forced to sign stumps. I know that kindof defeats the purpose, however. Who are we to force people to do things? Also We did make this bed, teaching to irrisponsable people was our fault. ---Zatarg---
I recently learned the EW skill from someone who offered to teach it to me. I value the skill because it makes wood gathering a lot easier for me, since I don't have a lot of time to be online, it is faster than even a named hatchet can do. I hope people don't get mad when they run across trees that I've clearcut, I always apply elixir, and most of the trees I hit are out in the middle of the desert, no harm to most people. ---Ancano---
I would liike to see added to this proposed law:
4) Users of a skill that may produce a stump may not harvest wood unless they have a unit of Elixir of Regrowth in their posession. Anyone who creates a stump must apply Elixir of Regrowth to the stump immediately.
Essentially the behavior Ancano declares, but codified. I am not sure that a modified bill could be circulated fast enough to gain required signatures to place it on the ballot. But I think it a worthwhile modification anyway.

If Sabt's clause was added and the signature clause was removed i think it would work for everybody INCLUDING me :P ---Zatarg---
