Gearboxes are, in many places, transient requirements to automate quarries and such like. Players who invest the time and resources in creating gearboxes are often left at the end with gearboxes they have no use for.
The Gearbox Lending Library attempts to resolve that problem by making a large pool of gearboxes available to the Egyptian citizens.
Current members of the Gearbox Lending Library are

A player may place a request for a gearbox by chatting any of the elders in the Gearbox Lending Library. If it's in stock, they may place a request for it.
They offer any one of a number of bonds (see below) to secure the loan of the gearbox, and pay a 'Gearbox Scrip' (purchased at the time or in advance - costs below).
These bonds are stored in small chests, and are not touched by any member of the guild.
Once the citizen has finished using the gearbox, it is returned (again, by arrangement with an elder from Gearbox Lending Library). At this point, the chest containing their bond is returned to them, and the transaction is complete.
