He resumed his monotonous walk through the place the travellers call "Desert of Shades". He laughed to himself as he wondered how apptly named this place was. Only the dead would be foolish enough to enter the desert, having nothing left to lose... but Ahmose-Aa was different. Ever since he had learnt to walk, he had been wandering off in all directions, trying to visit every place he could see.
Now, all he could see was the sandy hills ahead.
SANDY HILLS!
He broke into a run, reaching the base of the hills in only a few minutes. What was before him were a towring set of dunes, carved out by the wind already picking up around him. With no choice in the matter, he scrambled up the dunes to look for a safe place to rest while the growing sandstorm raged.
Clambering onto the crest of the sand, Ahmose-Aa new that if he was going to find a shelter from the wind he would have to venture further into the dusty mountains. Within minutes, the world around him turned to night as the storm met the dunes. Not even being able to see his legs, he stumbled forwards until suddenly he was rolling. In a fit of panic he tried to grab onto something to stop him from whatever awaited him at the bottom, only to pull up handfulls of the sand he was rapidly falling down.
With a sudden jolt, the tumble came to an end and Ahmose-Aa was left dazzed and bewildered. He could see around him, but the sand storm raging above his head still gave a deadly red glow to the light that reached the valley floor. Studying his surroundings he found that the ground he had landed on was not sand at all, but grass. Lush, green grass, a break from the sand that had been trying to consume him. Dusting himself off, he stood up and began to search around and quickly came across an open area, teeming with grass and trees. Although these were beautifull in their own right, his eyes didn't shift from the faint glimer on the far side. He rushed over and immediatly began sipping the cool water, only pulling his head out to breath and thank the gods for sparing his life.

Weeks have passed since then, and the valley has changed a lot. After the sandstorm had passed, Ahmose-Aa had begun building his humble abode. Day after day he worked tirelessly until the compound was completed. What sat in front of the life giving waters of the valley was a magnificant villa, fit for the pharaoh himself.
Ahmose-Aa sat back and marvelled at his work...but he new something was missing. He puzzeled over it for a while until he suddenly realised that he had not yet named the valley. After carefull thought, he built a little sign in front of the villa.
All it said was, "Welcome to the Nefer Valley Homestead, where peace and tranquility reside."
