A little bit about me
Hi. My name is Illyria and I am a relatively new immigrant to Egypt. I've made my home right in between Upper & Lower Nubia (at 742, -6393), but technically am in Upper.
My sister turned me onto ATITD; she played a few months in Tale 1 and liked it, but didn't end up sticking with it, mainly because she was by herself. I don't mind this so much because I like my space and am enjoying working to set up my little homestead at my own pace. I have met several of my neighbors so far, and have been impressed with their friendliness, helpfulness and generosity towards me.
If you are very new and do not yet have access to a Pottery Wheel or a Hand Loom (the non-exploding kind!) send me a message and I will be happy to set you up with some water jugs or let you use my loom!

I have now completed the Initiations into Architecture (With the help of SoToZ; Many thanks again!) and Body, and am currently working on my Initiation into Leadership. I will be working on my Initiation into Art & Music soon, as well.
I basically want to try everything to see what I like best before deciding what things I would really like pursue and what I'm not so interested in.
The Body tests all sound really interesting now that I've opened those up, though I am only just now about to start any of them. Will see how frustration levels go on them before I form my final opinion, hehe!
My Acrobatics move is Cartwheels!
Interests
Several things have caught my attention since I started doing more reading here. So these are my anticipated interests/things I think I will like to pursue in the future, and also some things that have caused a few expletives to fly...
Good Stuff
- Raising animals (I have only sheep so far, but look forward to dealing with others.)
- Gardening
- Breeding beetles
- Fishing
- Learning about Fumeology (Fumeology is now at 20!)
- Herb Hunting (I recently learned foraging and am having a lot of fun finding herbs. Whoever made the awesome herb page should get a medal!)
- Cooking (WEEE! Just finished the Culinary Challenge!)
Icky Stuff
- Student Looms
- Wood Planes insatiable appetite for Stone Blades
- Ore Carts and their lack of a steering column
Herbs & other things I have on hand to share/trade
Herbs
I don't know if anyone does this in a more organised way, but if anyone needs an herb I have listed here for a Fumeology point, I am open to trading for one I do not have listed, or if I have a lot on hand I am more than happy to share or have a smoke with you! I would like to trade for similar rarities if possible when actually trading or for cooking.

Handy Recipes
Grilled Fish
(As posted on atitd.net by Cherjuma; originally shared by PSHmeg.)
- Collect 20 wood, and 21 of each fish type from chests, and into inventory.
- Make a 2 wood bonfire.
- Add 21 of each fish type you have 21 of.
- Light the fire.
- With the remaining 18 wood, you'll be adding ONE wood, every time the fire reaches ZERO wood left.
- Once you've added the 18 individual woods, you can sit and wait for the fire to burn out, and collect your grilled fishies.
Foolproof Charcoal Bonfires
(As posted on atitd.net by Cherjuma.)
An easy way to avoid messing up plain bonfires is to only carry enough wood for the bonfire session you're working with. If you're making ten bonfires starting with 2 wood, adding 1 at zero seven times... only carry 90.
- Set all the fires, all ten of them, with 2 wood each. You'll have 70 wood left.
- Start them in a circle.
- Once you start them, add the wood to them in the same circuit.
- If you keep to the same order, and add at zero for each... once your wood runs out, you can let the fires burn down.
