Nothing much of importance here. I plan to spend tale3 focused on developing the city of Tanis in the region of Tanis into a tourist attraction. We will see if it comes to fruition.
I am a retired Unix enterprise administrator and am currently attending college to get my BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia, Tech. From there I intend to complete my PhD, teach for a while, and then go work with some friends at IBM. If I succeed, my wife wants to live in France.
I have had two businesses in the past, both of which failed. Apparently talent in technology does not necessarily transfer to being able to do sales.
Current Projects underway:
- Redevelopment of a 300k/hit a day website. I wrote the engine for it several years and it's grown to the point where it needs an overhaul to handle the growing load
- Development of visual report translation tool. Nothing spectacular, it just writes programs to convert the output of one program to the necessary input format of another computer. The main difficulty is designing a language parser that can pick out unique patterns so that the user can set rules for patterns without having to have knowledge in programming. System generates code which is assembled by the gcc compiler and will be available for Windows, BSD, and Linux. Project is GPL, but is produced for an instructor at college, unknown at this time if he will release the code.
- Maintence and redesign of the foraging pages. Attempting to condense the series of web pages into an easier to use system. This involves putting all necessary data about herbs on one page and creating an extendable visual selection process that points to the related herb on the data page.
