Right now, I am working on a series of experiments regarding the color genetics of beetles. I am curious about whether or not certain colors exhibit dominance over others. To a lesser extent, I'm also interested in whether or not gender (either of the parents or the colored offspring) plays a role in color development.
Each color group experiment works like this: i run several tanks of beetles, each of which has a mother of color A and a father of color B. I monitor the tanks and remove the offspring as they are born, tagging each one with mcolorfcolor - ocolor (ex: redwhite - white for a white beetle born to a red mother and a white father) and setting it aside until the end of the run. Then come the charts and graphs.
Though I'm nowhere near done yet (i've completed bluewhite, redwhite, bluered, and redblue experiments, and i near completion on the whitered group... that leaves a lot of colors!), i'm coming across some interesting things. For instance, there has yet to be a single experimental group that does not have a significant percentage of green beetles in it. This is interesting, as i have yet to run a single experiment with a green parent! Is green a super-dominant color? Does green result from a particular mixing of the other colors? Only time (and lots more experiments) will tell.
Lots more to come when i've got time to sort and upload the graphs.
Coords for the chime tower are approximately 1464, 2261 -- it's right next to my mosaic, in RSO, straight west from the chariot. :)
Update: Thank you SO much to everyone who voted on my mosaic over the past 6 months! After a long, anxious wait, I have finally passed my first art test. :) This means I've completed one of my two major goals for T2, yay!
Currently, I am the trade contact for Sunset Papyrus' raeli tiles. Happy to trade tiles 1:1. Here are the colors I have on hand:
And I can make:
Special!: For now, green yellow tiles are free to mosaic creators. (Limit 100/person.) We have too many on hand. :)
As far as what you can trade me back, I am currently really looking for midnight blue/gold/golden rod and any variety of reds, but I'm open to other colors as well. If you don't have any tiles to trade, chat me anyway and we'll discuss alternate arrangements.
These days, i spend most of my time at my compound in RSO. It's straight west from the RSO chariot stop, and almost impossible to miss. (It's huge, interestingly shaped, and painted a bright shade of brown.) Right now I don't have much built in it, so there's little in the way of public stuff. But if you're in the neighborhood, feel free to say hi anyway.
If you ever find yourself in the northeastern end of Nile Delta, I invite you to stop by my compounds at 1639, 7369. Solipsistos and I have a number of public buildings in them, including:
(This list is almost definitely incomplete; I will update it when I'm actually standing in the compound and can see what is/isn't there. :)
Recently I've been trying out beer making, in order to give myself a break from paint. Currently, I can make beers with these positive qualities: Potent, Brown, Black, Honey (hint, noticeable, or bold), Barley (hint or noticeable), Sweet, Dry, Fruity. The most complex beer I've been able to make is a Potent Black Sweet Fruity Honey (noticeable) Barley (hint).
Paint is my number one interest right now. My goal is to be able to make all of the possible colors by the end of this tale. If you are looking for a particular color, please contact me... I always welcome the challenge of making a new color.
Here is the most recent list of colors I know I have recipes for:
As far as price goes, I will cover common ingredients (carrots, cabbage juice, clay) and can usually cover a few stranger ingredients that I have a lot of (silver powder, dead tongue mushrooms, red sand). More pricey/rare ingredients (copper, lead, earth light mushrooms, toad skin mushrooms, iron) are left to the purchaser, though I'm open to payment in the form of other goods of similar value. Note that I aim to avoid rare items in my paints, so I can/will make lots of colors for abso! lutely! free!
Test passing isn't really my focus in this tale, but all the same, i'm proud of what i've gotten done. As of right now, i'm a prentice of 3 - Worship, Architecture, and Body. Tests passed are: Marriage (worship), Vigil (worship), Obelisk (architecture), Towers (architecture), Acro (body), and Cicadas (body.) I'm actively working on passing these ones: Mosaic (art), Chimes (art), Beetles (art), Garden (art), Octet (architecture), Holy Shrine (worship), and Safari (body). Oddly, i seem most drawn to art tests... which i have totally failed to pass so far. Go figure. :)
