More importantly, Aqueducts perform these additional functions:
Drinking from an Aqueduct provides +1 to a stat. Every Aqueduct will give that bonus to a specific stat, such as perception or focus, and is randomly determined when the the Aqueduct is constructed. To obtain a different bonus, another Aqueduct must be visited.
Moss grows from filled Aqueducts. The growth rate is currently unknown, but after a few hours, some moss should be available. The type of moss will be indicated at the top of the Aqueduct window. Once every Teppy-hour, an Egyptian can alter moss by drinking from a single Aqueduct. The player may continue to drink from multiple Aqueducts to change the stat bonuses, but the alteration to the moss will only happen once every Teppy-hour. The nature of these changes are unknown, but are thought to be player-specific. Moss also requires the presence of water. If the Aqueduct goes dry because there is no more water being pumped, then the moss disappears.
Do the characteristics remain when the pumps are primed and flowing again?
They get reset to green moss. -Kristjan
Herb seeds can apparently only prosper around Aqueducts. Research is being done to test which towers would support which kinds of seeds.
The most important benefit of Aqueducts are the bonuses to vegetable growth. Although most towers do not provide bonuses, some provide a 3x multiplier on the normal harvest amount for specific vegetables. Normally, an Aqueduct that provides a bonus is for a single vegetable, but there are cases of two vegetables being supported by the bonus.
For the Test of Life, the seven people who have the highest number of points that week pass. For every vegetable bed grown and harvested at an Aqueduct with water, 1 point is given to the owner. Additionally, every tower located between the tower and the pump also receives 1 point. No points are given for vegetables grown at a dry Aqueduct Tower. Further information may be found on the test page.
In order to build an Aqueduct, select Aqueduct Construction Site from your Projects menu. This will bring up a construction tool that will help you place pumps and towers. When you are standing on a suitable spot, the tool will say you are ready, and you'll have the option to place a construction site (costs 1 canvas, 4 rope, and 50 straw). Like other construction sites, it will last two hours.
