In the Test of Life, you (and other participants) will build an aqueduct system. These aqueducts will assist everybody in growing vegetables, among other things. Each week, the owners of the towers that have assisted in growing the most vegetables will pass the test.
When vegetables are grown at a tower, that tower and all towers upstream (toward the pump) accrue points. Points are per harvest, not per deben. ~Matk
The start of an aqueduct system is the pump. Last tale, these needed to be built on the Nile. This tale, it is said that pumps can be built near other major bodies of water (which means not at the puddle next to your camp). Currently, this does appear to place some more restrictions on where pumps may be placed than we would expect. The code is going to be looked at to see if it can be improved.
In Tale 2 an Aguaduct Pump could be built anywhere that you could gather Papyrus and the water was deep enough to build a Watermine. I verified the Caldera Park lake, the Windward Ways lake, and several other bodies of water from X=550 to X=1550 (the Papyrus growing band) in western Red Sea Oasis and eastern Desert of Sands. - MarvL
In order to build a pump, select Aqueduct Construction Site from your Projects menu. This will bring up a construction tool that will help you place pumps and towers. When you are standing on a suitable spot, the tool will say Aqueduct Pump, and you'll have the option to place a construction site (costs 1 canvas, 4 rope, and 50 straw). Like other construction sites, it will last two hours.
Towers are built in a similar way as pumps. The construction tool will note how far away from a suitable location you are. You must be within 8 feet of a suitable location in order to place a construction site. Once placed, the construction site still may not work if it's not placed close enough to a pump or a connecting tower (it will say this and not let you add materials).
Tower upgrades and pumping follow exactly the same formulas as in Tale 2.
If you are in need of Raeli Tiles, but do not have access to an oven (or to an oven that produces the colors you want), browse to the Tile Trading Page.
Important note about construction sites:
The person who loads the last thing into a construction site receives credit for constructing the new building. Normally this doesn’t matter for most buildings because the owner of the building is still the person who started the construction site. However, for Obelisks & Funerary Temples this makes a huge difference. Make sure you are the last person to load anything into a test's construction site.
