How to Determine the Proper Distillation Spirits for a Material

Spirits come in nine types, from coolest to hottest, Grey, Wood, Worm, Grain, Grass, Fruit, Vegetable, Mineral, Fish. For the purposes of this method, we will order them as follows:

 0 – Grey
 1 – Wood
 2 – Worm
 3 – Grain
 4 – Grass
 5 – Fruit
 6 – Vegetable
 7 – Mineral
 8 – Fish

The distilling value of a set of spirits is (order x amount) and is summed for the types used. Therefore we have a range of 0 (10 Grey) to 80 (10 Fish)

The optimal value at which a material will distill is a value in this range. Any combination of spirits that meets this value will produce the same results. For example, 10 Grass spirits has a value of 40, but 5 Fruit (5x5 =25) and 5 Grain (5x3=15) also has a value of 40, and would give the same result

To Find the correct mixture

Start with 10 spirits of Grass, this is the middle of the range If this is too cold, use 10 spirits of Vegetable (value 60) which is the middle of the upper range If this is too hot, use 10 spirits of Worm (value 20) which is the middle of the lower range Continue this binary process, splitting the middle of the range until you get the maximum yield for that purity of spirit (6 drops for fire)
