A More Powerful Squelch Option

In the interest of maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of a constructive Egyptian culture, the following proposal is set forth.

Although any citizen my mute or squelch another citizen which is offensive in nature to the first citizen, there are certain limitation to said command. It does not squelch the offensive personage in anything but private chats. However, with the new regional chats, this command needs to be strengthened so that "spamming" and other obnoxious chat habits of certain unfortunate individuals can be squelched by an individual citizen if they so choose.

It would be hoped that given this option, the citizens of Egypt can have more impact on the approval or disapproval of certain unfortunate individuals who take it upon themselves to disrupt the hard work of Egypt. This ability should deprive said unfortunate individuals of the attention they seem to want and permit the remainder of Egypt to work, play and go about there business without harassment.

With implementation of this law, numerous problems with needing to ban via DP could be left to only the most serious of offenses and the necessity to attempt to pass laws to curtail an individual's may be alleviated.

Please help make YOUR Egypt a more pleasant and non-offensive place for YOU.

Comment: It is this kind of self-righteous judgmental fascism that has made Tale 3 so divisive in the first place. It would in fact allow a few "holier than thou" players to control who can post in the regional chats and could effectively ban a player from all regional chats with a little spin through the Chariot Stops... This is an example of a player presuming to have the authority to censor what the players in regional chat can say and would open the door for all sorts of griefing that would tear this game apart. That's why there is a little "X" in the right hand corner of regional chats, don't like it don't read it. MY Egypt allows everyone to say their piece, whether it offends YOU or not. • What does this law do? As written -- it is just a declaration of "something should be done"... What are the exact abilities that are requested to be granted and/or denied? -- Refa

• I take it to mean the petitioner desires that a squelched individual's comments would not be displayed in any chat channel on the squelcher's interface and only their interface. If so, this petition needs to be updated/reworded to express that function, one which seems to be within the realm of reason. If the effect desired is for an individual to be able to ban another from public channels outright, it would indeed, as Richter put it, be more prone to generate grief than relieve it. I would also point out, that despite having never met Richter, this petition (along with his reaction to it) suggests this may be yet another in a long list of petitions to curtail his activities, which other players seem to find disruptive.
