"Art Across Egypt Part 1 - Artistic Patron Act.
Petition 1 of Kufi's Art Across Egypt platform.
-- A law to establish the position of "Artistic Patron" for each region and facilitate artistic endeavors across Egypt.
Recognizing that organization and community effort are key aspects of art,
Resolved: The position of "Artistic Patron of [region's name]" shall be created, with one such Artistic Patron for each region.
Resolved: Bi-monthly elections shall occur in each region for their respective patron. A notice will be given three days before the election, and, at that time, any interested in the position may nominate themselves at the regional University of Art. At the conclusion of the three-day notice period, a three-day election period will begin, during which all citizens in each respective region can vote at a voting booth from a list of all the nominated citizens in that region.
Resolved: The patron shall take on the duties of organizing artistic endeavors across their region. These endeavors can be anything the patron wishes, and may include assisting with the creation of sculpture gardens, as well as the creation of public museums."
With this petition, I (Kufi) hope to launch off a series of laws as part of an initiative I've called "Art Across Egypt." This petition specificially seeks to add a position that will be both formal and informal. Formal in the sense that there is a voting process in each region, yet informal in the sense that the Artistic Patron is given little power, simply support, a title, and hopefully a mandate.
My hope is that the Artistic Patrons across all of Egypt will work to foster art of all sorts in their home regions, and even outside of those regions. There is always a chance that this will not happen, but I feel that since Patrons only serve set terms, if they are no good, another can rise to take his or her place. I also believe that, without any legally-granted power, people will be less likely to abuse the system for their own personal gain. Even in a worst-case scenario of a string of inactive Patrons, Egypt will be left where it was before.
I should also point out that this law can easily be an important stepping stone for this position. If, perhaps, you feel that the Patrons would need a legally-established, precisely-delinated power, amendments can easily be proposed in later petitions. This first petition gives us the foundation of everything a Patron could be. Without that base, we go nowhere, and that's why I feel the passage of this law is so crucial.
If you have any questions, please do /chat Kufi in game. I'll be more than happy to answer any questions you have, as I believe this law will be very beneficial to Egypt.
With a little luck and enough votes, this act will encourage art more in this telling than ever before!
