Laws > Compound Property Rights Law

1. General. Construction of a compound provides the owner with property rights within 10 coordinates of his or her compound keystone. This 10 coordinate distance is measured in both the north-south and east-west directions, effectively creating a 20 x 20 square plot of land.

2. Ownership Rights.

2.1. The owner of a compound can claim or tear down buildings, including other compounds, within this 10 coordinate range, only if the buildings to be claimed or torn down have been constructed after the owner's compound. The location of compounds will be determined by their keystone location.

2.2 In cases where a compound is held by a guild, the elders of the guild are considered the property owners for the purpose of exercising property rights.

3. Ownership Right Limitations.

3.1 A compound must be in perfect shape for the owner to exercise property rights under this law.

3.2 Buildings that cannot normally be torn down, such as mines, can be claimed but not torn down.

3.3 Buildings that cannot normally be claimed or torn down, such as obilisks, cannot be claimed, but can be torn down with no salvage rights to the owner, provided that tearing down the building does not affect a test.

3.4 Buildings that are part of a larger public work, such as aqueduct pumps and towers, cannot be claimed or torn down.

4. Transfer of ownership.

4.1 When a compound is given to another person or to a guild, the effective construction date for the new owner is the same as for the previous owner.

4.2 When a compound is claimed under the Departed Person Property Reclamation Act or similar act, the effective construction date for the new owner is the date the property was claimed.
