Law Text
Aquaduct lines are expansive projects. They are often the combined effort of atleast 100 egyptians and required an inordinant amount of valuable resources. Two common problems shadowed the Test of Life and frustrated its participants.
Water Line Hijacking - This occurs when someone inadvertently or purposefully builds a aquaduct tower on an aquaduct line without the knowledge or permission of the Aquaducts architects. When purposeful, this action is at the very least inconsiderate. Water Line Hijacking can cause the termination of an aquduct line and/or at the very least obstruct the line's continuation in a given direction thereby denying anyone else the oportunity to build on that segment.
Growth Area Crowding - Aquaduct Towers also give a 3x boost to vegetable harvests grown within 4 coords of the tower. Said boost will benefit and attract all egyptians. Unfortunately some of those egyptians are not considerate and build chests or compounds on the growth area. If the growth area is covered, the boost is a benefit to no one.
To that end, we the architects of Egypt request the following improvements to the Test of Life.
-- Water Line Hijacking Prevention --
- 1) Aquaduct Pumps and Aquaduct Towers will have the option to be guild owned.
- 2) Connection to a guild owned Aquaduct Pump or Aquaduct Tower may be set using the standard guild permissions listed under Ownership > Permission for Use.
- 3) The "Permission for use" setting will determine who may connect to a Aquaduct Pump and/or Aquaduct Tower. To be clear, if a Aquaduct's permission for use is set to "Elder" only an elder may connect a tower to said pump. Aquaduct Towers will operate in the same manner. If an Aquaduct Tower is set to member, then guild associates, initiates and non guild members would be prohibited from connecting to said Aquaduct Tower.
- 4) Aquaduct towers will inherit the permission state of the Aquaduct pump. That is to say, if a Aquaduct Pump is guilded, Aquaduct towers connected to it directly or indirectly must also be guilded to the same guild that owns the Aquaduct Pump. If the Aquaduct pump is not guilded, Aquaduct Towers connected to it directly or indirectly may not be guilded.
- 5) After the first Aquaduct tower is connected to the Aquaduct Pump, the Aquaduct Pump may not change its permission state. That is, if the Aquaduct Pump is guilded when the first Aquaduct Tower is connected to it, it may not be unguilded. The inverse applies, if an Aquaduct Pump is not guilded when the first Aquaduct Tower is connected to it, it may not be guilded after the first Aquaduct Tower is connected to it.
- 6) Aquaduct Towers and Aquaduct Pumps may change thier Permission of use level at any time, thus allowing membership heirarchy lines.
- 7) Aquaduct Towers may be set to have up to 5 specific citizens assigned to connect to it. This will work much like the current "Give" options under then building Ownership menu. This option is only available to guilded Aquaduct Towers and can only be set by Elders or Patriarchs of the guild that owns the Aquaduct pump. This control superceeds the guild permission level. If less than 5 people are assigned to this control, the remainder of connections follow the guild permissions setting.
- 8) Once an Aquaduct Tower or Aquaduct Pump has an Aquaduct Tower connected to it, it may not be torn down. That is to say the last Aquaduct Tower in an Aquaduct line is the only Aquaduct Tower in the chain that can be torn down.
-- Growth Area Easement --
- 9) All Aquaduct Towers will have a 5 coordinate easement. ***Nothing*** can be built within 5 coordinates of an Aquduct Tower. This will allow ample room for all egyptians to benefit from any growth boost offered by the Aquaduct Towers.
