Dates are gathered wild from Date Palm trees found throughout the land. A date palm will only grow fruit when the tree is treated with 1
saltpeter. At one Teppy hour after fertilization, the tree will bear a random number of dates which anyone may harvest.

The above data is in error. It took 2 hours real time for the fruit to rippen after I fertilized the tree. This may or may not verify Sedelyan's theory below. -Richter
Is the number of dates completely random? It seems the longer you wait to harvest, the less there are available to collect. After a day or so, ours seem to bear only one date. -Bahaumaut
I thought the opposite, the longer you wait the more you get. It seemed like that for me. Perhaps someone had harvested your date tree? - Potamo
I think its 1 date at start then it goes up until some unmeasured point then starts dropping again til its 1 date again - OnlyAloha
Does anyone have at least a ballpark figure for when date production peaks? I almost always seem to get 1 date from the tree, no matter if I wait 1 hour or several or half a day. —AatonPulonich
Date palms probably have an individual rate of growth -- that, or players do. It would certainly fit with the general style of the game. -Sedelyan
