The Huntsman's Fishing Pole is a competition prize. It does not work in the same way as a basic fishing pole, in the following three ways:
1. The Huntsman's Pole will fish during daylight hours as well as at night.
2. The Huntsman's Pole does not fish the same bands of fish as a basic fishing pole. It actually will not work in places that would normally yield fish. Instead, it fishes places that are dead water to other poles, but these places still follow NE to SW bands across the regions of egypt (see map).
3. The Huntsman's Pole is not affected by the speed attribute of the user. It does not appear that any other attributes affect it either, but this remains to be confirmed.
In addition to these points, the Huntsman's pole will catch the rare fish, Malapterurus.
All of the above points are in need of further research. Please add or correct information as it becomes available.
Until quite recently, the rare fish, Malapterurus, could only be caught using a Huntsman's Pole. It appears to associate with Carp, towards the southernmost end of a fishing band. In a spot where Malapterurus may be caught, the fisherman will find dead water for many attempts. There will then be a Malapterurus or (perhaps) two, and then more dead water ... sometimes followed by Carp. Be prepared for lengthy periods of dead water.
The Huntsman's pole usually catches 8 or 9db fish, at any time of day or night. During the hours of darkness, however, in certain places, the rod will catch bigger fish, rising to 30, 40, or 50db. It is not clear why the places affected are different from other areas in this way.
