Knife

Made using the carving skill. The option to make a knife is found in the Skills->Carving->Knives menu option.

NOTE: Prior to August 10th, both the glass knife and the iron knife appeared in inventory as "Knife:Knife". This has been corrected for any new knives you make, but all knives made before the fix still have the display bug.
If you are holding both the glass and the iron "Knife:Knife", the bottom one is the iron knife.

Types of Knife

Flint Knife

Glass Knife

Iron Knife

Sharp Edged Knife

Jagged Knife

Twice Folded Knife

See carving for a list of uses.

Observation - Multiple knives of a single type only appear as a single inventory line (i.e., "Knife:Flint.....6") as long as they been used an identical number of times. Thus if multiple knives with different levels of wear are together in inventory (whether in Items or in the same chest) they will appear as separate lines, with the first line showing the knife/knives of that type with the most wear, the second line showing the knife/knives of that type with the next most wear, and so on. This means that if you have multiple knives of a given type in a chest, and want to pull out your most/least worn one for some work, it is easy to do so. - IshahNavi

Also, if knives of multiple types (i.e., flint and iron, as I personally observed) are in inventory, wear for any carving action seems to be consistently applied to the highest level knife capable of performing that action (i.e., with both flint knives (Lvl 1) and iron knives (Lvl 3) in hand, whittling a sharpened stick (a Lvl 1 action) caused wear to the least worn iron knife (Lvl 3)). I don't know how this works with different knives of similar wear (e.g. Iron with 10 cuts left and Flint with 15 cuts left); it may just be derivative of my previous observation (i.e., the Iron Knife just has more "shots" left). If anyone has more information, please post it...my data is far from complete (I don't have knives to burn ;D ) - IshahNavi

Different types of knives stack in inventory by type first lowest quality to highest, then by number of uses left. So carving sharpened sticks with iron and flint knives in your inventory will use up all the iron knives first, then the flint knives.
