I'm consistently getting ~7.2k carp blades in under 40sec, with use of the hotkeys. So it's quite possible to churn them out quickly with a bit of practice :)

Based on CarpGuide. Be familiar with that guide. Because I'm mostly just clarifying on it. Please let me know if my comments clear things up, or edit the above guide (if I get good feedback, I'll do it myself after a while. Just not sure if my notes will help or not).

I use F5 view and swing the camera. The approach below works well for that. It may not for other approaches.

I stand on the side with the sharp edge. start with camera facing the sharp edge.

If anything doesn't turn out right, you can discard and start over. You get the metal back, so all you did was trade time for practice.

For the front edge, 8 hits (shaping 8), starting at the outside (4 in on one side, then 4 in on the other. Make sure you get all 8).

Then 4 hits (chisel 9); one each outside ends, then the next one in on each side after it goes up. Swing camera to behind the blade.

3 hits (chisel 4) in the middle, as in the guide.

one hit each side (ballpeen 9) just in from the middle of the back of the flanges (so you can quickly get the right spot). Then one hit (ballpeen 9) just outside the middle on the back flanges.

swing the camera out 45 degrees, so that you can hit one 'unit' in towards the center of the blade. not just one forward, but also one inwards. this diagonal is what I had trouble with on the above guide for a while. Aim for about half way up the slope and you should be right. Swing out to do the other side in the same way.

Swing the camera back around to the front (facing the blade), and swing a bit so you can hit half way up the slope at the back where you were just hitting (one on each side).

Check quality. If you got the right spots, you should get around 7.2k. If not, check the guide above, and study the pictures. They're accurate even if the instructions don't seem complete.

Note: If you get 7150 or so, and want to try for 7.2k, you can try giving a few gentle hits (force 1 or 2) to where the blade doesn't match the target. There are a few peaks that are pretty consistent for that. Even on copper you have plenty of hits spare.

Note: For a couple dozen more points at the start, make the last/innermost pairs of the shaping & chisel hits at the start use slightly lower force)
