Overview

Saltpeter, also known as potassium nitrate or niter, is a substance used in Egypt mainly as a fertilizer and as an ingredient in gunpowder. It is manufactured by evaporating dung and water in a tub.

Water evaporates from a tub at 1 per Teppy Minute only if there is dung in the tub, at which time one dung is used up as well.

• Actually it does evaporate water without having dung around now. If you put just water in a tub the menu will say it's working on evaporating water, and the water does disappear. This seems to be pretty useless though.

After 4 water and 4 dung evaporate from the tub, 1 saltpeter will appear. If you leave larger amounts of dung/water for longer periods of time, you will average out to one saltpeter every 5 dung evaporated.

Uses:

• to make gunpowder in a kitchen.
• to fertilise date palms so they grow dates, or wood-bearing trees to reduce their respawn rate after harvesting.
• to add potassium, a nutrient, when growing thistles.
• in the construction of a Tower Of The Rich Soil.
• as a catalyst in paint mixing.
• as an ingredient in wood treatment.
