Attunement to Stones is accomplished at Schools of Conflict. Allows prospecting for marble.
Angels Stone is either exceedingly rare, regional, or "special" in some way. I've prospected for 6 hours on +157 perception food, using a 30x30 diagonal grid, in 130 adjacent locations in western RSO around 1200, 2700. Every trial has been a 1-break. I'm not happy :-( MarvL
I have found 4 Angels Stone quarries in my last 2 hours of prospecting - I'm as happy as larry the lamb - Binky :o)
To become attuned to different stones, you must have the appropiate perception. You cannot attune to anything with 0 perception. (Temporary Per increases, such as from cooking, work fine.)
If you are prospecting with food, you can find the precise requirement when your food wears off, if the requirement is higher than your natural PER.
Once you select an Attunement stone you are asked for 10 slate tuition.
Several things happen once you pay the tuition. First, you receive a window with the following text:
You attend class in a hall filled with beautiful stones of every color. With much handwaving, the instructors describe a method whereby a team of people can smash small bundles of slate to locate deposits of [one of the stone names]. Their instruction is not complete though, leading you to believe this may be more conjecture than science. Perhaps you will further knowledge in the little understood Rocks of the Ages skill.
No new skill appears in your skills list, but you gain a new item in your Special menu: "Prospect for [stone name]". You also have a new item in your Projects menu: "Build a Stone Quarry".
See the Quarry guide for how to find and operate a quarry.
Note that you can only be attuned to one stone type at a time. Once attuned, you remain so until you change it.
