Valley of the Kings
The Valley of the Kings is a challenge for all of Egypt. So far, it has involved puzzle solving, searching, and coordinating. Your immediate reward for taking part will be the bounty of herbs, resins, and mushrooms you'll find in the region. Should we finish before the end of the telling, we expect the final reward will be the opening of the VoK region!
WARNING: Using many of the options on your menus may get you transported out of VoK along with everyone else in it at the time. Since many of them will have run a long way in, this won't make them happy! There are more complete warnings, including information about the few things you can do in VoK, plastered all over the VoK wiki pages. The best is on the VoK Research page.
Getting Started in VoK
- Optionally eat some speed food
- Go to Qatara and run the three altars as described in Mysterious Event
- There is no time limit (unless you don't want your speed food to run out!)
- You will then have three of a random selection of Jagged Rocks, Meteor Fragments, and I-Forget-What Stones
- Set a waypoint so you don't have to run back out here
- Join VoK Research--elder confirmation is not required
- Double check that you set that waypoint
- Go to the chest by the sculpture by the fourth altar and get enough so you have three of each piece
- Triple check that you set that waypoint
- Pin the menus for the altar and try each combination (RRR, RRM, RRS, RMR, RMM, RMS, RSR, ...) until you find the one that works. The tablet you get when you succeed will tell which one worked
- When you get it, you'll be transported far into VoK. (Now you know why I was fussing about that waypoint!)
- You will have a tablet in your inventory, like mine which is named Tablet:Rock-Meteor-Stone
- Record yourself and your timezone under your tablet type on New Events
- Not yet, but after you're done in VoK for the day, warp to that waypoint (Yes, you can warp out of VoK.), and put your remaining rocks, meteors, and stones back in the chest under the sculpture. You won't need them anymore, and the next person may
- Next, load up the http://armeagle.atitd.net/vok/ in your browser
- Set your tablet type on that map and reload the page
- Look and see if some of the pluses and lightning bolts have turned darker pink
- If there's a darker lightning bolt, visit it and see below for the next step
- If there isn't, start visiting lighter pink plus signs
- Either way, when you find a meteor, click the Meteor and choose the only menu option. You'll get a popup that will most likely say, "The tablet slides off...." If it doesn't say that, you've found what you came for.
- Whatever result you get, record it on the map so it will turn blue (after a reload), and you'll know you don't need to come back there
- Remember to return the rocks, meteors, and stones you didn't need
- Once you've got that popup that says, "Not enough power surrounds this Meteor," it's time to see if any of the other people listed under your tablet type on New Events haven't quit the game yet ;)
- Your goal is to get seven of them together to stand near the meteor while one of them places their tablet on it
- I, Jzalae, am at this point, so I'll pause the guide here.
- There may be another step here, involving all the tablets
